The Mandalorian makes me want to play Star Wars again

They are really leaning into the 'western' aspect of the show. I was talking to my dad about it, and he feels that Pascal is copying Clint Eastwood mannerisms and voice. I feel like he is evoking them more than copying, but the point is the same. I would be surprised if we don't get a...

D&D 5E (2014) Advice on how not to feel like a lousy DM

The scariest thing is often just trusting ourselves to make something up on the spot and tying into the overarching world later. You do not need to have everything thought out before hand, and even if you do the players will surprise you, pretty much every session by doing something you didn't...

Cubicle 7 No Longer Producing The One Ring and Adventures in Middle Earth

The fact that they are not rushing out TOR2 because they can't assure the quality in the time given impresses me. I mean pushing out what work they have to gain some quick capital would be easy. It sucks, but it impresses me nonetheless.

Cubicle 7 No Longer Producing The One Ring and Adventures in Middle Earth

I ran a few Adventures of MIddle Earth games and despite some balance issues I loved it. The Journey and Audience systems enriched the exploration and social pillars of 5e. The Wanderer class integrated with the Journey system to make a spell less ranger that was the most in demand class in the...

    Disney+ in general

I geeked out to my wife about the scots not wearing kilts in 994 and Vikings that looked like historical vikings instead of 80s hair metal band rejects for most of the first episode.

    The mandalorian [Spoilers]

The Razor Crest reminds me both of the Slave-1 and the Serenity. Which is to say, I like it a lot. I keep trying that on my toddlers 'It is time for sleep. I have spoken"

    The mandalorian [Spoilers]

Yeah, I wasn't as big a fan. In this it seems mysterious. Full of helmets and cool armor forging scenes. In the clone wars the pacifistic society vs radical violent group was fine I guess, but definitely didn't pique my interest as much. Edit: Oh I should say I haven't gotten to Rebels yet...

    The mandalorian [Spoilers]

I finally watched the first one and I loved it. Getting glimpses into the most famous (non-jedi) culture in Star Wars has me seriously geeking out. And as a fan of Spaghetti Westerns I love the Man with no name vibe. Time to bust out all the old no-name-star-wars-alien toys I have and pass them...

D&D General I'm reading the Forgotten Realms Novels- #202 The Howling Delve by Jaleigh Johnson (Dungeons 2)

I've read many Drizzt books, and found most of them to be... pretty much the same. But I truly think The Clerical Quintet is Salvatore at his very best. I'll save my reasons why for later ;)

    What makes a monster terrifying?

I will not stand by and have a pillar of Dwarven culture insulted like this. If our forefather Dwarvey McHeadbutt hadn't headbutted the trolls out of the first cave we would all have fallen into the sky. Next you'll say that drinking ale and spirits excessively also hurts the precious 'brain"...

D&D 5E (2014) Horde of shifter barbarians, prepare for the deluge!

Does the Shifter THP fade after the Shift is over? From what I see it doesn't, So Shifting in the first combat and Raging in the second still has some synergy if there were THPs left over.

D&D 5E (2014) Horde of shifter barbarians, prepare for the deluge!

I may have phrased that poorly, or I am misunderstanding you. As it seems like we are in agreement. I meant the -1 to hit from starting with 14 instead of 16 becomes hardly noticeable except against very high AC bosses, as Advantage on Attacks is a much larger die roll modifier. The minus 1 to...

D&D 5E (2014) Hs anyone else noticed this shifter wrinkle?

Combined with my Deft Explorer-Tireless-Ranger/Berserker idea this is a real monster. Wildhunt's +2 to Wisdom is very helpful for the Ranger THP, pretty much makes the Shifter THP redundant or at least it'd just be 2 really good sources of THP over the course of an adventuring day. 1 shift and...

D&D 5E (2014) Horde of shifter barbarians, prepare for the deluge!

Honestly Reckless Attack makes starting with 14 Strength on a Barbarian Hardly noticeable. 15, 14, 15, 8, 14, 8 bumping Str and Con at level 4 would be a Solid Barbarian. The only thing that would really suck is not being able to get GWM at level 4.

D&D 5E (2014) Hs anyone else noticed this shifter wrinkle?

rage is mostly useful to counteract the negative effects of Reckless Attack IMHO. Taking a new look at Wildhunt now.
