    D&D 5E (2014) Variant 5e?

Since I'm already disinclined to play a Berserker in a regular game of 5e without changes to the Berserker I'd be very disinclined to play one here. Not that that matters much as it's just one subclass.

Unearthed Arcana New Unearthed Arcana: Rune Knight, Swarmkeeper, The Revived

Look, sometimes you just want to use a unrealistically large sword. It doesn't bother me if dwarves do so too. (but it also doesn't bother me if halflings and gnomes do so. so take what I say with a grain of salt)

That's how I always saw it. Dwarves having arms the size of, or even larger than, humans.

One ring to rule them all: JRR Tolkien reads LotR poem

This one? It wouldn't surprise me if he recorded it a dew times though.

Unearthed Arcana New Unearthed Arcana: Rune Knight, Swarmkeeper, The Revived

I don't see it as jealously guarding as much just seeing where things fit more naturally. Similar to how the Scout moved from Fighter in UA to Rogue in print, and same for Monster Slayer from Fighter in UA to Monster Hunter Ranger in print. Except that I'm not advocating for the whole of the...

Unearthed Arcana New Unearthed Arcana: Rune Knight, Swarmkeeper, The Revived

I think more than half of what Barbarian subclasses get could fall under the category of "Still isn't a rage" in concept. Barbarian subclasses are a loosely stapled together lot. So looking at the strict mechanics of it, I see extra damage, adv on strength checks a saves, and increased...

D&D 5E (2014) What Seven Classes Would You Keep? (and why!)

Skill monkey, combat monkey, spell monkey. Works for me.

A problem with the miniatures industry.

That looks rad. And it reminds me that I have a few dozen Heroclix lying around that I don't use anymore that I could modify.

I was thinking this too but still not always a lot of, how do I phrase this, "natural hair" options.

Unearthed Arcana New Unearthed Arcana: Rune Knight, Swarmkeeper, The Revived

Agreed. As it is it'd be a rune that is a suped up enlarge (as was pointed out to me) but still feels very close to the signature Barbarian ability to me. Now we are talking. That feels more unique, and would still stack with Enlarge from a spell, potion, or Duergar ability. We have in the...

Unearthed Arcana New Unearthed Arcana: Rune Knight, Swarmkeeper, The Revived

The more I think about it the more I see a divide between runes on items which can be switched and swapped, and altering oneself with independently of these items. I think the subclass should be split in twain and both concepts more fully realized.

It would be easy to swallow as a Runescarred Berserker

Unearthed Arcana New Unearthed Arcana: Rune Knight, Swarmkeeper, The Revived

Outlander already is a background, but Berserker could have, and I agree should have, 100% been a fighter subclass. But that ship has sailed. What ties the existing Barbarian subclasses together is they fight better in an altered state. It might come from battle frenzy, divine gift, elemental...

Unearthed Arcana New Unearthed Arcana: Rune Knight, Swarmkeeper, The Revived

Whily funny and largely true this seems like a holdover from other systems. 5e Barbarians are not strictly tribal, and even Outlander Barbarians in 5e speak, read, and write in an common and an additional language.

Random and off topic, but this just made me look at my dad bod and think "not really fat" which was nice. Wait this is on topic, people should be able to look at their body and still see a hero regardless of what that body looks like.

D&D 5E (2014) Time to remake the Bard
