What? The whole end monologue is about how Maud’dib will bring peace...except in the book it's a known universal spanning jihad that cost 6 billion lives.

    D&D 5E (2014) Fixing the fighter (I know...)

The fighter I found most interesting was the UA Scout Fighter. It got more skill proficiencies, and an unique way to bump certain skill checks related to the Exploration pillar. Incentive not to wear heavy armor was also neat and thematic. I would love a version of that subclass that wouldn't...

D&D General Is character class an in-world concept in your campaigns?

I have heard of Sir Rob Bertplant. Indeed it is said he comes from the land of the ice and snow, from the midnight sun, where the hot springs flow. Also that he was quite the mariner and explorer of new lands. And perhaps he even wielded the hammer of the gods.

The could just be using a component pouch and not using an instrument as a spellcasting focus and maybe not carry an instrument at all.

    D&D 5E (2014) Fixing the fighter (I know...)

I think I would want more Fighter subclasses with identity and out of combat schticks. PDK and Samurai get a bit of this Royal Envoy and Elegant Courtier, and in fact I'd go so far as to say PDK is even simpler and easier for new players to grok than champion. Most new subclasses seems to just...

Star Trek Picard extended Comic-Con trailer

The last bit of star trek I really loved was First Contact. I never even finished watching Voyager. But I might have to now because I'm all on board for this.

D&D 5E (2014) Tell me about your Adventures in Middle-Earth experiences, please

An excellent warning. While the Slayer can really make you feel like Turin Turambar, it still also makes you Turin Turambar. So as a GM it helps to be prepared to deal with a nearly unkillable hero. Poison, fire, and nets have all been useful tools for the Orcs and Goblins I've thrown at my party.

D&D General Is character class an in-world concept in your campaigns?

To initiates of those faiths maybe, but to a common lay person I could easily see the possible confusion.

D&D General Is character class an in-world concept in your campaigns?

But what about a Bard, Celestial Pact Warlock, Circle of Wildfire Druid, or Artificer who can heal and return the dead to living. Would your average person be able to distinguish one of them from an actual Cleric?

This has been mentioned. Zedturtle's reply echoes my own thoughts on the matter:

D&D 5E (2014) Tell me about your Adventures in Middle-Earth experiences, please

There was a thread on here about someone adapting it for an ASOIAF campaign. Anyway here is what I think. The Shadow system is pretty tied to the setting. It could work for another setting if that setting had the same assumption that the player characters are enemies of The Shadow (whatever...

D&D General Is character class an in-world concept in your campaigns?

If I make a Fighter with the Uthgardt Tribe Member Background guess what other cultures are going to call him? An Uthgardt Barbarian. Likewise if I make a Barbarian with the Noble or Knight background no one is going to think of him as a Barbarian. So that's a no from me dawg.

D&D 5E (2014) PHB Errata Nerf Unarmed Strikes!? WHY??? :(

Spiked Armor exists in 5e. It does modify a specific unarmed attack, if you have the correct training. So there is some precedent on the subject (whether or not it's good precedent I'm not so sure.)

    RPG Evolution: When Gaming Bleeds

Things like this are probably the biggest reason I may implement the X-Card at my home game even though I'm confident it will never be used. I don't think it's supposed to be a tool for the majority of tables. The majority will take care of themselves. But I will gladly bend over backwards to...

D&D General DnD Stereotypes In The Home Game

Hill Dwarf Battlerager is my go to Wolverine. Temp HP for reckless attacks is a pretty great regeneration substitute. I just refluff Spiked armor as spiked gauntlets.
