D&D 5E (2014) It is OK for a class to be the worst

Eh, even taking into account the THP from Tireless it still doesn't have the durability of the Barbarian. It does however make one heck of a multiclass combo. THP+Resistance has always been good.

D&D 5E (2014) It is OK for a class to be the worst

I think there's always been overlap in the concept of the Barbarian and the concept of the Ranger. Especially with 5e having the Outlander background which can make a great "Barbarian" or "Ranger' from the narrative without having any levels in either class.

D&D 5E (2014) It is OK for a class to be the worst

I haven't seen that clam at all. If I did I would disagree with it heartily. It has no Rage, no Reckless attack and that's the 5e Barbarian's bread and butter. Tireless with it's short rest Exhaustion removal I think was seen as a great dip for a Berserker, and I agree with that, but that's a...

D&D 5E (2014) It is OK for a class to be the worst

I'll happily play the worst class if I think it's fun. I play Berserkers and I play strength based Rangers. But I do think there are some questionable decisions in regards to the class and subclass design. Rather than Rangers being better at wilderness stuff, things like Natural Explorer...

D&D 5E (2014) It is OK for a class to be the worst

My favorite character is a Tavern Brawler Berserker, primarily grappling and shoving in combat while using his versatile weapon in one hand, but when facing creatures that he cannot grapple or shove entering a Frenzy and gripping his weapon in both hands. He won't win an optimization contests...

D&D General Hey, are we all cool with having to buy the same book twice, or what?

I got PDF copies of my Adventures in Middle-Earth Books when I bought the hard copies. But searching across PDFs to find everything related to a single topic is pretty dang hard about. Easier than searching through the hard copies but not by much. So I think I should extract all the books into...

"Why the Empire Strikes Back Is Overrated"

I like how The Mandalorian reinforces this with its conversation between Mando and the Armorer about the Child's abilites. Overall I think Filnoi actually cares about continuity and consistency.

    Downsides of Working From Home

We have 18 people on my team and we do a call every morning. Only one person speaks at a time, everyone mutes their mic when not speaking. Everyone shuts off their camera if they are eating at their desk. You just get used to the WFH life after a while I guess.

Kickstarter Is Losing Nearly Half It’s Staff

It probably is a bad Idea to launch now. I think a good deal of folks with a little extra funds are holding on to it in case they are next on the chopping block.

    Downsides of Working From Home

My last job had an optional WFH day once a week, but you were judge for using it, and often assumed not to be working. There was even talk of having a camera on at your desk at all times while working from home as if that would somehow would make you more productive. These amongst other inane...

D&D General A campaign without classes that use magic?

To me extra attack on the Rogue sticks out like a sore thumb. Sneak Attack is already accounting for the damage they should put out per round. Maybe Evasion would be a better fit here?

D&D General A campaign without classes that use magic?

I know the OP is going a different direction, but I really think AiME did a great job of removing the spellcasting system from 5e. I also really like how Audiences and Journeys expand the Social and Exploration pillars to fill the gap left by the absence of spells. I think it'd be pretty easy...

    D&D 5E (2014) Design a Goliath sub-race!

"In the R&D team any [trait] meant to convey flavor rather than a mechanical advantage is referred to as a ribbon- a thing that's mostly for show. Thieves' Cant is a great example of a ribbon [trait] and Storm Guide also falls into this category."We don't weigh ribbons when balancing one class...

    D&D 5E (2014) 2 year campaign down the drain?

One of the nobles on the boat is also a member of the Zhentarim and very pleased with that the Lord is out of the way and that the boat casino operation is up for grabs. She offers to help the party get out of the situation and to pin the event on the Cult. She'll even create so many rumors...

D&D General Help Me Build the D&D Game I Want to Run

So I know you don't want a different system, but how about a OGL products that use 5e? I recently picked up a humble bundle with practically all the Adventures in Middle-Earth books. I've found it to be the best Low Magic, gritty version of 5E I've found. I think it covers a lot of your wants...

D&D 5E (2014) Is my half elf evoker's backstory too simple?

If you have a Background, Personality Trait, Ideal, Bond, Flaw and have decided why your character became an adventurer, your backstory is good enough.

Terminator Dark Fate Review (no spoilers)

I loved the show. They really nailed a John Conner that was transitioning from a young victim to someone that could be the leader of the revolution.
