GAME OF THRONES #7:A Man Without Honor ACT 17 Chapter 2-2012

I'm thinking of a specific celebration. But you're right, there are other moments they could choose, but none that I can think of that would neatly split the the book into two seasons. Most of the climaxes in book 3 feel like the baptism scene in the Godfather -- lots of mayhem in a condensed...

GAME OF THRONES #7:A Man Without Honor ACT 17 Chapter 2-2012

I think the plan is to finish book two. The Battle of Blackwater is episode 10 if I recall correctly, then it's mopping up for another couple of episodes. I'm more concerned about whether they'll get book 3 into one season, and if not, where will they end it, since they've got to have a very...

GAME OF THRONES #7:A Man Without Honor ACT 17 Chapter 2-2012

Yes, poor Bran and Rickon! Their deaths were so unfair! Damn you George R. R. Martin! And to kill them off screen too! So much to hate about Theon And yes, as a book reader, I am also interested to see what will befall Dany and her dragons.

GAME OF THRONES #6:The Old Gods and the New ACT 16 Chapter 2-2012

Yes, that's correct. I guess I'm more concerned about how they'll keep the surprise of the aforementioned celebratory event a real surprise for the audience if they're already in on who has done what to whom regarding Winterfell.

GAME OF THRONES #6:The Old Gods and the New ACT 16 Chapter 2-2012

One thing that I think will be a challenge will be, given how I expect things will unfold at Winterfell, how will they deal with the relationship in the third season between Roose and Robb, or more particularly, if we the audience are privy to the events at Winterfell, how will the writers...

Ooops. Meant "flay" wrote "slay." My bad!

He was in the last two episodes: He encouraged Robb to slay the prisoners in the first episode, and tonight urged Robb to let him send his bastard Ramsay to liberate Winterfelll, which I'm sure will go wonderfully.

HardCoreD&DGirl, re: Osha's grooming habits -- I've heard that referred to as the "King's Landing Strip." And speaking of Osha, I have to admit that I wasn't expecting to see Tonks from Harry Potter in quite that light. In all, a very good episode, even with some potentially problematic...

World's Largest Dungeon in actual play [Spoilers!]

I've seen this thread on the boards for such a long time, it hadn't occurred to me: This thread is about 8 years old! I wonder if that's some kind of record.

D&D 5E (2014) Monte Cook Leaves WotC - No Longer working on D&D Next [updated]

Hussar, that's not the impression I get from these discussions. Looking through this thread there seem to be a number of 4e supporters who nonetheless see that the brand has been in difficulties for a while. But to get back to the original point of the thread: I suppose that with Monte gone...

GAME OF THRONES #5:The Ghost of Harrenhal ACT 15 Chapter 2-2012

I guess it's the swagger I'm not feeling.

I don't know. I'll be interested in seeing what Paizo keeps coming up with for its core offerings. But I remember what the Star Wars Saga edition was nearing the end of its run, we had some discussions about what WotC could possibly add to what already existed, and the consensus had emerged that...

GAME OF THRONES #5:The Ghost of Harrenhal ACT 15 Chapter 2-2012

A quick followup -- Ashayara is still not growing on me as a character. The actress's affect seems weirdly flat, like she's just phoning in her lines, and she lacks Novel-Asha's boisterousness and bravado. She just sort of slouches around and emasculates Theon. I guess we're stuck with her though.

GAME OF THRONES #5:The Ghost of Harrenhal ACT 15 Chapter 2-2012

A good episode. I think my wife was glad of no explicit sex scenes, and even gladder of no torture. She swore she'd never watch the show again after last week, but wandered in during a Tyrion scene and he got her to stay (yet another way Tyrion is awesome). I don't know that they're changing...

D&D 5E (2014) Monte Cook Leaves WotC - No Longer working on D&D Next [updated]

But I think its strange to say that if the customers don't' buy a product it's their "fault" if the product fails. People express their preferences through their purchases. The job of the manufacturer is to make a product the consumer wants to buy. If there's a non-WotC villain, i'd be more...

D&D 5E (2014) Monte Cook Leaves WotC - No Longer working on D&D Next [updated]

Wait, I think I missed a step here -- It's Wizards' product. If it is indeed a failure, then who else's fault would it be?

D&D 5E (2014) Monte Cook Leaves WotC - No Longer working on D&D Next [updated]

Well I don't need it to be a failure. My point is that even the fact that this is a constant topic of conversation reinforces the perception that it's a failure. And it's not about individuals, it's about a widespread perception. The fact that the conversation is "haveable" is bad news for 4e...

D&D 5E (2014) Monte Cook Leaves WotC - No Longer working on D&D Next [updated]

But this is the equivalent of saying "the perception of failure exists only among those who know the most about the game and care the most about its future. I'm not sure that's any better news! And I'm not sure it's true. As others have noted, if these conversations are also taking place at...

Oh I'm inclined to agree. But I think that it might be possible to split the baby with regard to 5e. The things that bothered me about 4e were't healing surges and powers, it was the reconfiguration of classes and races. Alignment bothered me a little, but not much. A 5e that would get me to...
