Damage of two types but immunity to one

Does it though? If a character is immune to fear and gets hit by the following attack: :ranged: Scarey Face - (minor, at will) - fear Range 5; attack +X vs. Will; on hit target is immobilised until the end of scarey creatures next turn Surely the PC immune to fear will not be immobilised.

    Paragon Advice

As this is a one shot, and something of a trial run for your main game I would try and push the boundaries of what you consider an acceptable challenge. If you end up wiping the party it wont break the game, and everyone will learn just how resiliant high paragon tier PCs actually are. Of...

Yes any condition from a single target attack doesn't apply. So a melee attack that deal 10 ongoing damage would not deal 10 ongoing damage. This represents the fact that the swarm is made up of multiple creatures, one creature being knocked prone does not mean the entire swarm is knocked...

    Neogi Storm Cannon

Yes that could work, I am not sure 2 rolls needing a 6 is better than 1 roll needing a 5. Maybe the "re-roll recharge" power could be a move action. This might be fun as the artillerist could be desperately trying to get the damn thing charged again as the PCs advance on their encampment.

Best advice, get them to design their characters a week before the session so that you can get a feel for exactly what they can do. There is a massive jump in power level between heroic and paragon tier characters that can catch you out if you are not prepared for it.

    Encounter - The Frozen Commander

Its a sound encounter but I am a little puzzled why the Raven Queen followers would attack on sight. I take it you have no players that are clerics or paladins of the Raven Queen in your group. Personally I would have thought that the gut instinct of PCs faced with this set up would be to try...

What I like to do with swarms these days is make them really swarmy and try and maximise mechanics that make them act like a cloud/carpet of hundreds or thousands of tiny creatures. In this case your swarm is probably tens of creatures as I picture the individual spirits being larger than wasps...

    Daring the Gods

Well technically it is a valid arguement (status quo), it just isn't a very good one as the system seems to have moved on.

    Neogi Storm Cannon

I really like it, its a cool concept, clearly designed. I am just a little unsure of its balance, and use in standard encounters. In ship to ship combat with a vessel having 12 or so of these they would work well, but otherwise a recharge 6 is incredibly swingy. I think I would like to see...

    Need help finishing/tweaking Solo

My first impressions of the creatures is that its defences are a little high, I would have expected: AC 20; and Fortitude, Reflex and Will around 18 For most of the combat he will only be able making one attack a turn, which is a little dull. Really he should have an at will double attack...

    Adventures where you've already lost

As a player (bearing in mind it was CoC) I would absolutely love it. From the description of the pacing of your plot it sounds like there will be a good mix of action and investigation. It also sounds like there will be the possibility of small successes (which at the time will feel like big...

What about making the 2nd stage a combat/skill challenge encounter? A series of glyphs and symbols could glow on the giant crystals surface which starts to crack and splinter releasing those trapped within. The PCs have to fight the escaping creatures while trying to reseal the crystal prison...

There is nothing wrong with your creature as a standard elite, I like Telekinetic Shove and Mental Intrusion (which I think should really be a recharge power), but this encounter looks like an excuse for some serious psychic effects to me. From your description this is a major encounter with a...

    Need help with a monster

I’m thinking opportunity attacks and readied actions. When Alric jumps bodies he becomes an insubstantial creature that the PCs can see and takes a free move action (or the body jump could actually be a move action), this gives the PCs a brief window of opportunity which they can make...

    Daring the Gods

Mechanically I really think this is the way to go. However on a broader note: The problem (?) with divinity in D&D is that it isn’t really about faith at all, it is more about affinity. In D&D you know the gods exist, you can even go and visit them in their ‘heaven’ if you like. So it’s...

    To much or not enough

Only you can say if the encounter is too much for your group or not, a 6 man team can cope with a lot but it depends on their set up and how beaten up they are before the fight. This is certainly looking like a hard encounter, which is probably what you want as a boss battle. I think you...

I would encourage everyone to build their own monsters its a great way of making every adventure unique, and it keeps the players guessing as what is going to turn up next.

    To much or not enough

Using templates assumes the MM1 style of elites that adds bonus defences, this was done away with in MM2 so I have designed them from scratch to give you an idea of what I might do. I am not sure Grevain should be an artillery as he seems much more controllery to me (but I’ve stat’ed him now)...

    Daring the Gods

Well you can follow as many gods as you like, and you will probably find that most people in the world follow multiple gods depending on the situation: Is it winter? - better make a small prayer at the temple of the Raven Queen. Am I going into battle? - better make an offering to Bane, or...

    To much or not enough

You have missed out the level of the creatures and they seem to be designed in a way that makes it hard to determine what they are supposed to be. Grevain - is he a level 4 elite controller? Morgan - is he a level 2 elite soldier? It might also be usefull to know what other creatures are in...
