D&D General Which Race/Class/Subclass would you play as with a fellow ENworlder?

I actually do play in games with two ENWorlders: In the truly awesome Sins of the Scorpion Age game, run by @Steampunkette , I play a fighter. I also play a Witch Hunter in a WFRP online game, run by @TheSword , in the superb Enemy Within campaign. @TheSword has also just wrapped an Odyssey of...

Listening to old-timers describe RP in the 70s and 80s

And we had to carry our miniatures round in fishing tackle boxes, with torn-off sheets of kitchen roll or toilet roll to protect them from scratching. And used dungeon geomorphs. And stole graph paper from the Maths Department at school.

    D&D General Favorite serpentine monsters?

Does the behir count as snakey enough for a vote? Especially the one in the Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth.

    Level Up (A5E) Fin Turris - A new Magical-Cyberpunk setting for A5e

Absolutely punk; I used to have green spiky hair back in the late 1970s and loved being there for the UK punk scene. Your campaign setting looks amazing!

    Level Up (A5E) Fin Turris - A new Magical-Cyberpunk setting for A5e

Mercusa is a Dragonborn Ranger of Ne'Arkhosan heritage (gem dragon) and was raised to be an Exterminator, "removing" threats to the city, or perhaps just threats to his own family interests. He was essentially a good person doing a good job, except when it was a bad job, a job that wasn't...

    D&D 5E (2014) Recommend me a tier 3 adventure

I’ve run Return to TOH and add my voice to all the recommendations. It’s truly terrifying in places, especially the City of Moil.

Listening to old-timers describe RP in the 70s and 80s

Played since 1976 ( I was 13): I don’t remember ever playing in a randomly generated dungeon. Every character had some kind of backstory, even if sketchy, and there was always some kind of “world” beyond the dungeon, with a storyline and motivations. Even dungeons themselves weren’t ubiquitous...

Games that you haven't run but want to [+]

Incidentally, you’re probably already aware of this but in 1834 the Palace of Westminster ( aka Houses of Parliament) was largely destroyed in a fire. The building you see today is the rebuild. IRL the fire was probably an accident and took old due to the amount of old paper documents, but...

You’re right on all of this. The London sewer system mostly dates from after the “Great Stink” of 1858 forced Parliament to act. Joseph Bazalgette, the key builder, would only have been 15 in 1834 when your campaign was set. There were remnants of the old Roman sewer tunnels still operating...

Sounds brilliant. If there is anything I can do to help, I am a Londoner myself and my family have a long history of being working class Eastenders (aka Cockneys). I grew up in London and my great nan used to tell me stories of the old East End when she was a girl and Jack the Ripper was...

I’d never heard of Arden Vul till your post. Just had a look at it and Wow! Looks awesome.

I’ve never run Runequest. Played in it way back in high school (as in when I was a teen, not as the school principal I became later!) and loved the richness of the setting, but never got the chance to run a game. Maybe one day.....

D&D General Iconic and Best Adventures in each Edition

I think megadungeons are adventures that carry a lot of weight in the game, even if they’re not to everyone’s taste. There are many out there but I’d give my vote to Rappan Athuk as the best of them from 3e onwards.

D&D General Iconic and Best Adventures in each Edition

Adding my support for those who include the Giants series for 1E and Night Below for 2E to the list. I’d also add Temple of the Frog from the Blackmoor supplement to Original. Not so much due to quality, but due to its position as the first published adventure for the game. The OP doesn’t...

D&D General What D&D Religion Is Your Favorite, And Why?

My favourite is probably Ehlonna of the Forests in Greyhawk, but the one that intrigues me most as a DM is the ultimate evil and despair of Tharizdun.

    D&D 5E (2014) Making Combat Mean Something [+]

As a regular player in @TheSword ’s games, I love this idea. Makes combat a scary prospect. As it should be.

D&D General What would A Senior Baron that has 2 illegitimate sons that he's never acknowledged and often bad mouthed do when he learns what they've achieved?

The senior baron sounds like an arrogant, somewhat inadequate, unpleasant idiot: Perhaps he should get a job with NuTSR ....or perhaps he already has!
