D&D 5E (2014) What would 5E be like if the playtest's modularity promise was kept?

13th Age did that. The term used in that game is "staggered." It's nuts that a change like that is based upon Yeah, but where's the blood?!, but there you go. 13th Age also has more effects triggered upon the staggered condition, to be fair.

    D&D General Why TSR-era D&D Will Always Be D&D

Even if that happens, they'll just go to the "I didn't comment in the other thread" thread, post the last word there, and in join the self-congratulatory. :)

D&D 5E (2014) What is balance to you, and why do you care (or don't)?

Presumably one doesn't like those choices, though, right? A few people have said "But what about the power levels?" in response to my idea, saying "in the wild" in wouldn't work. If we are really looking at things in the wild, though, then it will work just fine: this isn't AD&D, or 2e; this...

D&D 5E (2014) What is balance to you, and why do you care (or don't)?

But why do we need whole classes dedicated to simplicity? Why can't an individual player just decide to play their class simply?

D&D 5E (2014) What is balance to you, and why do you care (or don't)?

Such a player could always choose to -not- engage with the more intricate mechanics the class offers. In essence, there is no real need for a "simple" class since any player can just choose to not use the more "complicated levers" of the class, making it simple.

D&D 5E (2024) What would your ideal rest mechanic look like?

100%. This isn't a finalized idea by any means; it needs workshopping. I like the idea of making choices during rest rather than simply hitting a 'reset' button.

D&D 5E (2024) What would your ideal rest mechanic look like?

What if there were only short rests, but the player decides what gets recovered on the rest? For (early-idea) example, on a short rest, a player may do one (or some limited number) of the following: a) Spend HD to regain hp b) Recover HD c) Recharge a class ability (or a few?) d) Recover a...

D&D 5E (2024) If short rest abilities become Prof # tiimes per day?

There can still be attrition, though. For example, in 4e there was healing surges and Daily abilities, but they still had encounter abilities too (a guarantee to be able to do something cool every combat).

Dr Strange 2: In the Multiverse of Madness (Spoilers)

Sure. Again, these aren't real things, they're merely the product of decisions made by human writers, and they decided Psycho Mom trope for Wanda and Strange being able to handle it. I wonder how people who have no experience with the comics but love the MCU see this; for a lot of us, we know...

Dr Strange 2: In the Multiverse of Madness (Spoilers)

Well, if the Darkhold were a real thing and this was objectively how it worked, but it's not...it's a decision made by human beings making the movie and they decided to make the female character get overwhelmed and become the obsessed mom whilst having the arrogant doctor work with it just fine...

Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game Playtest Impressions

In SCRPG, she'd have the power that when she is hit with sound, she instead takes that as a boost, and another one where she can boost on her own (to represent absorbing all the ambient noise around her, etc.). Then, she'd have a fairly straightforward blast attack.

Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game Playtest Impressions

I am having a lot of fun making Marvel heroes for the Sentinel Comics RPG, but it's definitely more narrative in style... ...and maybe that's the only way to have Natasha and Bruce on the same team.

Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game Playtest Impressions

How much of a difference does Rank make? DD being a 5 vs BP being a 15 doesn't seem to jive with their conflicts in the comics...

D&D 5E (2014) What is balance to you, and why do you care (or don't)?

Understandable. If you ever take a break from DW, I couldn't suggest 13A more strongly.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e, Heal Thyself! Is Healing Too Weak in D&D?

So...I can't be sure he's referring to me, but in post #236, I asked "Are there really 'minions' in 5e though? Monsters you can drop with one hit? I didn't say anything about 5e sucking or what-have-you; I asked if 5e had a particular mechanic. And then a flurry of, frankly, bizarre...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e, Heal Thyself! Is Healing Too Weak in D&D?

 Ok. Last time I am replying to you. My interaction with this thread began with asking if 5e actually has minions, per se; hordes of enemies that are easily taken down but are still a viable threat to the heroes. My actual experience Dming 5e since it came out was that, no, it...
