When you have a power contingent on an enemy moving...

... does forced movement count? There are immediate action powers where you can attack or follow an enemy moving away, or powers that damage opponents if they move. Could you ally force the enemy to move in order to give you an opportunity to use your power?

    Martial Powered warlords are awesome!

I dealt 50+ damage with an At-Will last evening, at 6th-level! Actually, Martial Power wasn't even required: it was using Commander's Strike to attack with my Str 20 ranger, who was wielding a +2 vicious maul with Weapon of the Gods on it, and wearing Bracers of Mighty Striking... and rolled a...

    Longsword Finesse bummer

... at a 1 die penalty to sneak attack damage. "You are now able to benefit from your racial trait... sort of, have a -1d6 to damage" seems like a rather lackluster feat, don't you think?

The Half-Level Bonus - Angel or Devil?

Isn't this exactly like in 3E?

    Swordmage paralysis of analysis

I'll be playing a swordmage in Keep on the Shadowfell (and, hopefully, the prolonged campaign that will follow), but I'm not sure how to arrange my stats. My first thought was Str 18 Con 13 Dex 10 Int 18 Wis 11 Cha 8 including +2 Str, +2 Int from genasi. Stat increases always go to Str and...

    Gaming Pride / Gaming Shame

I recently had to list my hobbies for a company newsletter presentation of new employees. I mentioned "roleplaying games" and I have a sneaking suspicion that the hot HR chick does the article actually knew I meant P&P roleplaying, since she edited it to "roleplaying", but D&D is much more...

Should ability damage gain other damage bonuses? (is reaping strike good at 30th?)

You have to change Sure Strike to begin with, if you want it to be of any use.

New eladrin fighter powers: light blades required. Eh?

From the Mithrendain, Citadel of the Feywild article: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/drfe/20080801a To be fair, the powers aren't actually for light blades only, they require either a light blade or a spear. Eladrin apparently like spears (Eladrin Soldier points to that), but they...

    Proud Nails?

So how much Str would you say an archer ranger needs to carry his arrows? More than the Dex the TWF ranger needs to have a halfway decent AC?

Getting At-Wills from your secondary (multiclass) class?

Hey, give me a break, a human cleric is so starved for at-will choices that it clouded my judgement.

Getting At-Wills from your secondary (multiclass) class?

Quite right, I knew that. It's quite a long wait to 11th, though, and this seemed like a neat way around it when it occurred to me (even though it doesn't really make sense, upon further reflection).

Getting At-Wills from your secondary (multiclass) class?

So class feats are OK, not just paragon paths. But powers aren't. In hindsight, my reading doesn't really make sense: if you were treated as a member of your secondary class for the purposes of picking powers, the power swap feats would be utterly pointless.1 Oh well.

Getting At-Wills from your secondary (multiclass) class?

Ah, so. So a multiclassed character can't even take feats that require his secondary class?

Getting At-Wills from your secondary (multiclass) class?

Step 6. of leveling up is choosing feats. Step 7. is choosing powers. Taking a multiclass feat means you count as a member of your secondary for the purposes of requirements. Does this mean that (for example), a 1st-level cleric who took Arcane Initiate (wizard multiclass) could pick magic...

Artificer Up (Playtest Version, not Final)

How do you avoid forgoing a racial benefit by multiclassing? ... can humans pick their extra At-Will from their other class? That'd be very interesting.

On a completely unrelated note, how do you feel about Paizo's Pathfinder RPG?

"Looks like we're going to win this battle . . . in about 90 minutes from now."

I had hoped that interesting encounters would be simpler to design in 4E than 3E, not more complex.

Sleeper in the Tomb of Dreams

Has anybody read this adventure, or perhaps even started playing? I've only read the first couple of pages, but I was quite favourably impressed. The Sibyl and the augurs, the oath to the Queen, the Stargazer... the adventure certainly seems to try to offer something to the people who think the...
