There has only been two 5th Edition WoD games released so far.

A Review of The New Hunter The Reckoning

Personally, I would have found it more interesting to forge a Hunter game out of the material used in The Second Inquisition. They are a much more intimidating group, akin to a Technocracy antagonist group in effect and the various ‘orgs’ add intrigue in the same manner they may have done if...

D&D General Why Do People Hate Gnomes?

    1) They aren’t Tolkien. When D&D first introduced Gnomes - and I think it was the first RPG to do so, although I may be wrong - all the other playable races were all taken more or less directly from Tolkien. Elves, Dwarves, Halflings (Hobbits without the trademark), Half Orcs and Half Elves...

Games Where Player Characters are the Bad Guys

Stormbringer was a game where the main character in the setting (Elric) literally destroys everybody he loves, his own Empire, and the entire universe he is in (it’s a multiverse setting) utilising pacts with demonic forces. Whether PCs follow this antihero pathway is not necessarily enforced in...

    Marvel Shares Sabretooth's Stats

As has been pointed out already, but 1980s design includes things like Faserip and Ghostbusters D6 system which are actually pretty classic designs - which still significantly influence current game systems. This new Marvel system is more like out of the 80s dustbin, by contrast. I know...

    Marvel Shares Sabretooth's Stats

Check Out The Gotham City Chronicles Quickstart

After the garbled mess that was the Marvel Multiverse Play-test, this actually looks promising.

Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game Playtest Impressions

Champions isn’t ‘dead’ as such - they have a readily available Champions Complete book along with various supplements and third party support, along with recently released ‘Champions Begins’ PDF which looks like a proposed starter box set. However, Champions doesn’t seem to move very quickly in...

A Review of Second Inquisition? Let's Begin!

I thought The Second Inquisition was a pretty strong supplement in all, and provides a number of worthy antagonists that could scare PC vampires. Actually, you’d better not show it to the players, as they’d probably want to play them.

Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game Playtest Impressions

Everybody is entitled to an opinion, certainly about a play-test, but bluntly, mine is that this is the worst set of rules I have seen for any Marvel RPG and one of the laziest designs I’ve ever seen in any professionally produced RPG. It almost seems like somebody said "we need to make...

Rivers of London, RuneQuest Gods, Regency Cthulhu Coming Soon From Chaosium

I think that you will find that many percentile based systems have worked out ways of dealing with this issue. That you recoil from them is why you haven’t, probably experienced them.

Check Out This Preview of the Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game

The system looks like a vaguely simplified version of Champions where you are rolling high, rather than low. For the attributes, I’d imagine if you were to multiply the scores by five, they’d end up being equivalent to the Champions score - so 2 would be a baseline of 10, 7 would be 35.

Rivers of London, RuneQuest Gods, Regency Cthulhu Coming Soon From Chaosium

A percentile score remains the simplest way of transparently expressing a probability of success, and that is why it remains popular I feel. On another point about marketing, it is noticeable that Call of Cthulhu seems to be Chaosium’s best conduit towards supporting different eras...

Rivers of London, RuneQuest Gods, Regency Cthulhu Coming Soon From Chaosium

Well, we did have Sense and Sensibility and Zombies a few years back to work on.

Rivers of London, RuneQuest Gods, Regency Cthulhu Coming Soon From Chaosium

Wow (....without any sarcasm)! I looked up 'demi-monde’ on an internet dictionary. Rivers of London could be an interesting game.... Anyway, the Jane Austin supplement for Call of Cthulhu is a good curve-ball and the The Prosopaedia looks to continue with RQ:G looking like the most spectacular...

    D&D 5E (2014) Is D&D 90% Combat?

But the suggestion is open to interpretation.

    D&D 5E (2014) Is D&D 90% Combat?

Game rules don’t dictate play. GMs and players do. Doctor Who’s Initiative system might be adopted to the 5E game and that will create the same sort of emphasis for non-combatitive play, I think. You can take the violent route, but you’ll be at a disadvantage - people can then work out what...
