Fewer, certainly. People would have pooled resources and we would have seen fewer (but hopefully, better) products released. For example, I would have found someone else and worked with them rather than publishing my own material.

Adventures weren't selling well before d20 existed.

Why don't adventures sell? 1. What level would you like that adventure? 2. What campaign setting? 3. Would you like a dungeon with that? 4. . . . or maybe political intrigue? 5. How about a world-shattering plot? 6. Will a desert setting work for you? And on and on. And on.

Absolutely the case (and it hasn't exactly been a secret). Digging into the early days of the OGL should reveal some posts in which you'll learn that the OGL came into existence so that WotC wouldn't need to create adventures.

I think we'll need to see a few pages to see how this works. They could use the space for lots of examples (always useful) or filler art. And, obviously, I echo the hope that it will be OGC like Unearthed Arcana was. (And magical locations are in there, which they won't be.)
