    D&D 5E (2014) Get 300+ Issues of EN5ider For A Dollar!

This is a fantastic idea for a series. If I had the time to tackle Patreon, I'd totally do something similar.

RPG Evolution: Making It in the RPG Industry

Agreed 100%. There is no real shortcut to success. Even spending tens of thousands of dollars to raise awareness is worthless if you aren't making something that people enjoy. Practice. Practice. Practice.

RPG Evolution: Making It in the RPG Industry

Time and a lot of hard work. I don't think there's a way to bypass that unless you have a lot of money to invest in social media marketing and you don't mind spending thousands of dollars to "acquire" an audience.

RPG Evolution - Secrets of RPG Success: Interview with Phil Reed

Thank you! I know the team tries very hard to keep projects flowing and to meet our commitments on schedule. We fall behind, and things go wrong, but we try and fix the mistakes when they slip through.

RPG Evolution - Secrets of RPG Success: Interview with Phil Reed

Thank you. Most of that is no longer listed for sale online. I've been asked if I would update/rewrite some of the older content, but I am not sure of the answer at this time. For now, I'm having too much fun creating new material to dig out the past works.

    D&D 5E (2014) A Dozen Frightening Rumors: Phil Reed's Latest Kickstarter

It has certainly been a surprise to me. I knew there was interest, but I never guessed there was this much demand for my work. I am very lucky that so many gamers are willing to trust me to write and deliver these.

    D&D 5E (2014) A Dozen Frightening Rumors: Phil Reed's Latest Kickstarter

At the moment, this is a hobby and helps me stay sane. My day job eats a lot of my time, and the creative outlet of my own projects is a nice break from the demands of the office.

    D&D 5E (2014) A Dozen Frightening Rumors: Phil Reed's Latest Kickstarter

This aligns with my own thinking. Even if I were to create something outside of Kickstarter, I'd likely make plans to offer it as part of a different Kickstarter campaign.

    D&D 5E (2014) A Dozen Frightening Rumors: Phil Reed's Latest Kickstarter

I cannot speak for others, but for me: * Kickstarter is a marketing tool and helps raise awareness of my work. * As a part of the above, the $1 reward is as much about funding as it is promotion. You can follow others on Kickstarter and, when you do, you will receive an email from Kickstarter...

    D&D 5E (2014) A Dozen Frightening Rumors: Phil Reed's Latest Kickstarter

Thank you for the post!!! This was a very nice surprise. At the moment, the project has over 1,200 backers and everyone is getting nine new PDFs as a part of their rewards. Each is 14-pages, but only a dozen of the pages in each PDF is the content. The other two are an introduction/cover (which...

RPG Evolution: Retiring as a Game Designer

Personally, ramping up my own projects is directly related to my retirement plans. I very much enjoy creating and publishing, so I've been making a little extra time for that around office responsibilities as I start to look to a retirement date. So, even when "retired," I fully expect to keep...

Thanks! I've been slowly refining the approach to those campaigns and have learned a lot in the last year.

RPG Evolution: Making It in the RPG Industry

Kickstarter can be a powerful tool. So long as you regularly communicate with your backers, and deliver on schedule, you can slowly build an audience. I cannot thank my Kickstarter backers enough for their willingness to support my creative efforts. I wouldn't be able to publish any of my...
