Unless I overlooked something, they don't differentiate between natural and magical (cold, fire, etc). So, cold damage is cold damage be it from subfreezing temps or from a cone of cold. Same for fire, lightning, and so on.

The twig blight kindlers are pretty cool. "Oh look, a plant monster. Someone set it on fire."....."Uh....guys? WTH??!!!!"

Agreed. Such as when the lizard man grapples a PC and then dives off the side of the boat, sinks to the bottom of the lake/ocean/sea/whatever and maintains the grapple...all the while holding its breath while said PC drowns? :)

Probably the route we go if we move the "official" campaign to 5e. Double,triple, quadruple, or more the XP needed to level. Just need to find the correct (for us) pace (because default, for us, is way too fast).

When we first started playing back with the original red box and in 1e, we didn't either. The DM (me or someone else) described kobolds. Later adventures when we met small dog-looking humanoids with tiny horns and red eyes (or whatever) we figured out...kobolds. Was the same with all monsters...

Corrupted flumphs would be cool. For some reason, thinking about that I flashed back to Descent into the Depths of the Earth and Vault of the Drow...only with flumphs. Lots of flumphs. Evil. Worshiping a giant evil flumph god/goddess.

Would be cool seeing the flumph with legendary actions or lair actions.

I'm with ya (and I guess siding with Jester as well). It's not a big deal (to me anyway) and really doesn't consume that much extra time at all. I honestly hadn't even given it a second thought (until I read this thread; still doesn't bother me though).

XP is set based on CR. For example, all CR 1 monsters are worth 200 XP.
