    Death is Final

I'm honestly good either way. Let death be final with ways to bring back the dead as optional, or make the rules core. Either way I can use or ignore them. I'd imagine there would be less panic and less screaming if the rules for raising the dead are core. Death in my campaign is mostly final...

    D&D 5E (2014) Still Working on my 5ENext Wishlist

    My thoughts as well

    Any news on playtesting?

Sometime in May is what I heard (FWIW)

Monte Cook: Guidance for Monsters and Treasure

One of the few things I liked about 4e was monster design and the XP budget for encounter design. Those things worked really well (IMO) and were very streamlined and quick. Treasure parcels on the other hand should die a horrible, painful, fiery death (again IMO). Random treasure is the way to...

The Pros and Cons of flat attack progression

Already balanced. If the cleric favors Strength over other abilities (say Wisdom for example), then so be it. Fighter might be favoring Dex over Str, or may favor something else entirely. Nothing needs to be added to balance it.. If feats are still in, perhaps Skill Focus on whatever skill(s)...

    Rule of Three: 20/3/12

Yep. Giants too (if you consider giants big, slow, lumbering monsters). Attack speed = slow, but if it connects...you're paste on the end of its club, to be scraped off at its leisure.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E and Backwards Compatibility

Yep. Agree. No backwards compatibility, but the ability (maybe) to invoke the feel of the edition you like.

    Rule of Three: 20/3/12

Because of this part... "Since AC and attack bonuses aren't automatically scaling up..."

    Something Awful leak.

Yep agree. The monster system of pre-3.x days worked fine for what like 20+ years? Seemed to work ok in 4e as well. Monsters/NPCs shouldnt have to follow the same rules as the PCs.

What are YOUR Favorite Items (and edition of each item)?

I approve this list, and agree, but would add 1e Deck of Many Things and 1e Codex of Infinite Planes.

    Something Awful leak.

If it's the leak I'm thinking of, that one was shot down by WotC Trevor as being fake.

D&D 5E (2014) What attitude should Next encourage DMs to have to TPKs?

Yep. Agree with this. More times than not when I've been on the DM side or the player side of a TPK, it's usually the players' fault. Rarely (as DM) have I seen the dice be the reason for it (and I'll usually fudge it if it wouldnt work well for the story or whatever; most of the time I just let...

    Shield or no shield?

Agree with this. Shields should provide a higher bonus to AC IMO.

    Unique Monster Trait Tables

Yeah. This. No table(s) needed. Let DM do it on the fly as needed/desired.

Top end of +N weapons and armor?

I voted for +3 max, though I'm good with special weapons (like the holy avenger; very few, too many "special weapons" and they aren't special anymore) hitting +5 max.

Highest total bonus at level one to a d20 roll

In 1e, I believe it was +4 at 1st level (+3 for 18/00 Str, +1 for attack) assuming said 1st-level PC was a fighter.

D&D 5E (2014) Please Cap the Ability Scores in 5E

I voted for fairly low. Ability scores should be hard capped, just like 1e where 25 was pretty much it. Technically it was pretty difficult to even raise scores in 1e, but i dont recall anything that allowed scores above 25, or even anything that had scores above 25 (including the gods).

Highest total bonus at level one to a d20 roll

At 1st level, highest should be +5.
