    D&D 5E (2014) Do Beholders need sleep?

So like that train wreck that was the first D&D movie?

    D&D 5E (2014) Damaging Armor

Ideas for damaging armor and shields? I know the PHB says DM can set AC and hit points for them, but rather than do that, I'd like to come up with something else. A game I'll be running, the PCs run across at least one leucrotta. Already converted it, and trying to find the best way to do it's...

D&D 5E (2014) Making Monsters with Resistances and Immunities

Yep. Agree with this. Use the higher of the two.

D&D 5E (2014) Weapons hidden in the MM

In 3.x, the infernal wound effect was a supernatural ability of the devil itself not the weapon. Not sure how they are handling it in 5e.

D&D 5E (2014) How I think HoTDQ should of been handled.

    D&D 5E (2014) What's wrong with a human-centric fantasy world?

Yep this. I banned halflings way back in 1e and gnomes not longer after. (Tieflings, dragonborn and all that fun stuff don't exist either and never will.) In our campaign, the majority of PCs are human. There's one half-elf PC. Rest are human. There were a few others many years ago (dwarf...

    D&D 5E (2014) DMG - breaking bounded accuracy already?

DM has control over all of this. If he/she allows it, then so be it I guess, but they don't have to. Even in "canned adventures", the DM can remove or change up the treasure found pretty easily. If the DM decides no stat books, then no stat books. Done.

    D&D 5E (2014) Phantasmal Killer?

Agreed. The text says "At the start of each of the target's turns before the spell ends..." If the first save is made, the spell ends, so no damage is taken. Definitely worded oddly though (which seems to be a feature of this edition in a lot of places :))

    D&D 5E (2014) How do you kill a 10th level character?

Flank attacks were in 1e....page 70 of the DMG.

D&D 5E (2014) Lethality in 5e: what is your preference and how do you achieve it?

Pretty much the same way I run the game, and have for as long as I can remember (at least back to 1e). If the PCs are goofy enough at 1st level to go "Hey! Let's check out the cave of that well known dragon that's been terrorizing the city for decades", then they will encounter said dragon, not...

D&D 5E (2014) Defensive CR: determining effective hp due to resistances/immunities

They didn't. You can see that in several monsters within the MM. Follow the DMG guidelines and the CRs won't line up in some/several/a lot of places with regards to hit points, immunities, etc. But, monster design has never been a science when it came to CR. It's all about eyeballing it...

    D&D 5E (2014) How do you kill a 10th level character?

The smart villain kills the cleric first, if he/she can identify said cleric.

    What are you leaving out?

Agreed. And I do the same with halflings as well, except those guys roll 1dimmediately for how many hours it takes before they die.

D&D 5E (2014) Offensive CR: determining damage output for a spellcaster

Hit Points = CR 1/4 AC 15 bumps CR by 1 (because it's two higher than baseline AC 13 for CR 1/4) He can fly and deal damage at range so his effective AC bumps by 2 again (page 279, DMG); bump CR by 1 again Defensive CR = 1 His DPR is 11 (if you figure firebolt every round) so CR 1 His attack...

    Legacy of the Crystal Shard

Cool. Something I noticed though, Akar Kessel. His multiattack says he can use Life Drain in place of one attack, yet Life Drain is his only attack (other than spellcasting I guess). Also, his CR. Shouldn't he be about CR 5 or so based on HP and what his resistances do to effective hp for...

World of Farland monsters converted to 5E

Weapons deal an extra die of damage if larger than Medium size. It's mentioned in the DMG or MM I believe. Don't remember which. So, your Drasp, for example, should deal 2d8 base damage with its longsword and longbow.

D&D 5E (2014) CR and Encounter Difficulty: Is It Consistently Wrong?

I wouldn't allow it either. First character that tries it gets a horde of red dragons dropped on their head. (And no edition is bound by legalese; it's bound by what the DM says is allowed/not allowed.)
