As cool as most of them are, I think only the Warlord is necessary for the PHB if the Champion and Battlemaster are broken up. Barbarian Battlemaster Fighter Monk Warlord MOST of the rest are best as supplements

The core problem with the fighter to me is that fans only want 1 class and to shove everything in it, forcing it to never commit to anything because it can't have features 2 icons don't share. But like how sorcerer and warlock were added, add more classes. The Action Movie Hero path Class...

P much A warrior who actually could stand in melee with a dragon would have the same move speed as one and the damage to 2TKO one. Or the oppoiste direction in defense. And the slider inbetween. Multiple paths to do it. But many fear it.

And it was balanced around the idea that players had multiple PCs. Gygax design are players have a retinue, real time resting, and a hubtown. You could play fighters early and switch to high level MUs if some survived your throwaway sessions as your fighters healed up. 95% of tables don't do...

It's however not an imaginary wish thread where the community doesn't call your idea bad. We just can't call it bad because it's a + thread.

Yeah but this is a discussion about D&D. When you are designing a nonD&D game, you can change stuff with less backlash. When DH2, DS2, or Shadowdark 2 comes out in 10 years, they'll get pushback to change then.

modern imitative makes turn order unregular and unreliable. Daggerheart initiative allows a Player to chose to go at an opportune time and roll to hope to allow their ally to go next. Popcorn initiative makes turn stacking easier but makes going first the roll. With modern D&D magic and...

D&D typically doesn't create stuff that can take it. D&D is written as an attrition game and relies on difficulty is based on PCs running out of stuff due to inefficient usage.

Certainly. You are assumed to get magical items and piles of gold as you adventure. The DM is supposed to give you a magic sword and a magic hat eventually. At least by level 7. The DM is not forced to give you a magic sword +1 and a magic hat of intimidation +5 to keep you up with the math...

I always feel that there were always multiple paths to combat power, but the designers/fandoms desire to only support 1-3 warrior classes until they get hungry for money and print out more options. But to me there were always The Action Movie Hero path The Hulk path The Wuxia/Martial Arts...

I'd reinvented 4e and stretch it over more levels. Draw Steel repackaged and reflavored and low to mid level level 4e There are more martial paths to power than wuxia. Limited imagination and lack of desire to experiment with new options is why D&D takes more and more kludging as PCs level.
