D&D 5E (2014) What size (thickness) book are you hoping the PHB, DMG, and MM will be and how much fluff do you expect?

A solid - thick book like ph/dmg of 2nde and 3.5e would suffice for me. Also, the more fluff the better it for me. As an exceptional quality and writing style product i regard the The One Ring rpg from Cubicle 7. It is a pleasure to read while at the same it presents you the rules and the basic...

    D&D 5E (2014) L&L December 1st design finese. Part 2

As you describe it i see there is a general nerf of the spells with the exception of the highest caster level damage spells. If you put in the scene the at will damage cantrips then we have, imho at least, a considerate boost of the dmg dealing spells in comparison with all the others promoting...

    D&D 5E (2014) L&L December 1st design finese. Part 2

Am I the only one who is dissatisfied with the way they built the spells in 5e? I mean they (over)promote only the damage spells while at the same time they degrade the utility combat spells making them in many ways less appealing. I find concetration as a general rule to handle the powerfull...

    D&D 5E (2014) L&L December 1st design finese. Part 2

Just a clarification: Concetration rules applies only to the spells which say that need concetration in order to go on like hold person and fly or is something else? If this is the case means that a mage can hurl fireballs in mellee without fear of the enemies?

D&D 5E (2014) What are the things in D&D Next you don't like?

I wholeheartly aggree. I am constantly reading here and there that the fall of TSR was the overextention in regard with the campaign settings. This maybe is the truth if you look the game under a short term economic view (which is very important, since maybe that was the reason that made TSR to...

D&D 5E (2014) What are the things in D&D Next you don't like?

Two major things: 1) Healing - Resting: As it is (the last playtest) and as always was it is very generous to my liking. 2) Not supporting full vancian system. I really don't like the spamable dmg spells.

D&D 5E (2014) What rules would you like to see come back in 5E?

2e Critical Hits? How can noone mentioned this? All these fabulous critical tables for slashing, piercing, fire, acid, cold, etc vs humanoid/monster critters.... Such a joy to use these! Also i support: 1)true vancian 2)weapon and spell speed 3spell disruption 4)2e clerics 5)morale

    D&D 5E (2014) What's Next for D&D's Campaign Settings? (And an idea/suggestion for WotC!)

While reading the conversation one word comes to mind for all of us who want more of our beloved world: Kickstarter Recent paradigms (Pathfinder, Numenera, London 1920 Cthulhu) showed that given the opportunity there are many of us who would buy and fully support the setting we love. I am...

    D&D 5E (2014) L&L for November 18

΅ Here, I disagree. Something that you can use once or two times per day for a limited time and many times happens to be situational have to be more powerful than something that you can freely at will.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E Arcane Spellcasters: Mage and...?

Have that in mind that Mearls on his twitter wrote in the question if there "any chance we'll see Warlock crunch as a play test update/addendum before the big reveal?" he answered " Yes, very good chance. Maybe not as a test with formal feedback surveys, but you'll see it.". So there is a...

What's the best and worst D&D book you own from any edition?

As best book(s) I would consider the Planescape box set(s). It was the RPG the marked me and our gaming group for the years. Very close i would put the Birthright box set(s) for the humongous inspiration for my home brew world. As a honorary mention I could not miss the Oriental book of 3e. A...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Next Q&A: Warlock Pacts, Patrons, and Iniate Feats

It might not be so...The Druid could be played mellee and as a caster according to the main build. I think this would be the same.

    So where are you now?

About a month before of the announcement of the DND Next i realised that 4th edition is really not a game that I like. This was hard to say and slow to realise because I always was a dnd fanatic. Having learnt about about the next iteration of dnd i was enthousiastic. However as the time was...

numerera GM intrusions: help me get it

I have not played Numenera or FATE (although i would love to) so my judgement is more theoretical. I think it is more or less a legitimization and exculpation of the GM roll fudging. Some times when the things went too well or too bad for the players and this doesn't serve the game I have fudged...

LOTR RPG vs The One Ring

Thank you very much. I have discovered the game the last months and i have to say i haven't discussed here until now. If you want more info about the game you can also check the official forums http://forums.cubicle7.co.uk/viewforum.php?f=7&sid=b4d5e1a756b731cc90679c6226fe495e . You will find...

LOTR RPG vs The One Ring

Thank you :) Have in mind that the game is more simple (not simplistic) than d&d and very very elegant, so i think it is more easy to master as Loremaster than dnd. Being a game so dedicated to the books of Tolkien I think the most important requirement for the Loremaster and the players is...

LOTR RPG vs The One Ring

Well, the most glaring feature is the bipole Hope - Shadow which is tied with the Fellowship mechanic. The corruption of the Enemy is a very big danger in the game. Almost the same as big as a goblin poisoned arrow. The characters start with a number of Hope points and represent the "pureness"...

LOTR RPG vs The One Ring

I have not played neither HARP or GURPS, so I cannot judge the systems. However the big plus for The One Ring is that the rules were designed especially for the world of Tolkien, so they manage to capture the atmosphere of the Middle-Earth of the late 3rd Age almost perfectly. You will find many...

    D&D 5E (2014) Whats your dealbreaker for 5E?

I couldn't agree more. Maybe not deal-breaker but this is the thing that i want from wizard the last 5-6 years. I am already in my limits to abandon dnd and import another system that suits better my needs.
