That is NOW. Before Stranger Things not a chance. But that's neither here nor there because budgets aren't concerned what product the money comes from. Strategic planning is concerned. And when WOTC was bought Hasbro execs even before 4e considered D&D not valuable. If not for VTT speculation...

Oh no no no. I read every quarterly report before D&D got big. D&D wasn't even worth mentioning. In fact if 5e had the reception of 4e I assure you WOTC would be MtG and no D&D besides a board game. WOTC Magic money kept WOTC in business. D&D was a negligible comparison. And now, execs are...

Yeah man. Heroforge is free. Lots of users use it for free. But then they release kitbashing which is awesome. You need to subscribe for that really good feature. Many users are mad that's not a free feature because it's so convenient. Well yeah. You still have full functionality as provided...

I mean I get it. This is though a very common metaphor used in daily and professional parlance. If i tell you to "go jump in a lake" it's not because I think you need to get wet.

We take it for granted. I know video gamers mostly on console that had no idea this was D&D. That shouldn't be surprising. We tune into what we/know like

It depends on your hobby group. I was introduced to BG3 through WOTC efforts. I saw the adverts for Video Game side BG3 and the D&D was not stressed. It was there as a notation. If you weren't in tune to ttrpg it's likely you'd miss all reference to D&D.

We're no longer in nearly the same environment as we were before Covid, and the variables have completely changed even from 3 months ago. Nothing was that much different with even development up to D&D 2024. Now we have more efficient AI being greatly encouraged among business leaders and a...

You're more than likely correct. But I think it might actually be used as a license. Hasbro is known to sit on IP and let it rest. Then bring it back. I think D&D is going to become primarily a video game brand. The books just don't make the Magic Money (MtG). And who knows what's going...

I am in no way a fan of the art of 5.5, but I am struggling to see how its infantile. I think the problem is its thoroughly Mundane. Its modern people taken off the street and put into scenery instead of adventurers adventuring.

Where I can see the angle, we have other games where new creatives are very much manifesting. D&D is the old dog, I think we should leave it as is. And by that I mean like what Mongoose is doing with Traveller. Traveller has very much kept its identity.

I have to ask, how does Bisexual lighting (which I still can't imagine even if I've seen it) apply to Tasha's?

Lets be honest though. It wasn't 5e that made D&D popular it was Critical Role.

I'm not sure if this makes sense. Is D&D just a brand? You want the institutional knowledge to keep the identity, even though so much of it has been lost already.

OK Fair enough but I never said that meant books were going to be AI. I didn't even imply that. I definitely said they were utilizing AI, and no that is not speculating. It is as much to speculate they won't replace humans if they can get away with it. You never know. The VP of WOTC...

Where did I say I thought D&D was dead? What I said was D&D was Toast without the design team. I never ONCE said D&D is dead. I've also in several posts told stories how I am teaching younger groups new D&D just not the 5.5. The Core Books are selling but they are not being incorporated...

Were you a D&D Player? Even with BG2 I knew people that played that and didn't realize it was D&D. In fact its how I got one of my players that I still game with from time to time. But for sure there are definitely BG3 fans that don't even know they are playing D&D when they play it. Even...

I really didn't do that. I was simply referring to human jobs not being as guaranteed as they were. As for evidence, everything on forums is speculation. This is a conversation like in a game shop. Its OK to speculate without evidence on an internet forum that is not a professional website or...
