I don't think we can call Eberron Kitchen Sink. That is full technology levels above a traditional Medieval Setting.

It was a supplement to a game that was compatable with it. AD&D. Maybe Dragonlance isnt very compatable with 5e. Obviously Forgtten Reams wasn't compatable with 4e because they had to change so much of it. Maybe they needed to make a new setting for 5e.

And the ease of remakes which are usually worst, are coming at the cost of originality. Write new stories for the 'modern sensibilities' and let the legacies stay what they were. Theres so much available now that every single old thing redone feels like a cash grab.

I can't disagree with this more strongly. There are various settings for various tastes. If people do not have the creativity to work within limitations than there are plenty of other settings for them.

Castles and Crusades is now my 'home' D&D Fantasy game. Traveller is my home sci fi game. I love to play WFRP from cubicle 7, and Runequest so I'm jsut sticking basically to OSR now. Not even looking at other modern games, just buying updates of old ones Like WFRP and Traveller.
