    D&D 5E (2014) Toward a new D&D aesthetics

I am very tolerant of many styles. I know im the minority but the art in say the 5e D&D Players handbook are people I can recognize. I mean a halfling looks like GOvernor Chris Christie. It points to the skill of the artists but I actually don't like that. Even Elmore art and Easly art were...

D&D 5E (2014) Why is animate dead considered inherently evil?

No its not. Its actually quite easy to see why making undead is an evil act. So I will 100% amend that Necromancy is not evil. WHo cares if its life drain vs fireball. I've actually never argues necromancy itself was evil even if I have mentioned disease conditions and such here. But if you...

D&D 5E (2014) Why is animate dead considered inherently evil?

Does our real world have a cosmic alignment game construct? If it did the Geneva convention would call it evil. Why do I talk about disease because people using disease as a weapon IS in fact considered evil and we don't even have an alignment game construct. By saying sneezing is evil...

D&D 5E (2014) Why is animate dead considered inherently evil?

I'll amend that necromancy involving the creation of undead is always evil

D&D 5E (2014) Why is animate dead considered inherently evil?

Lack of oxygen in sealed tombs Do... do you think the only way people get sick from corpses is eating them? Are those burning animals undead? Then it's evil. Magic bends reality. Necromancy does to but it also corrupts. Hence the evil. Same logic as the Geneva convention. You can shoot...

D&D 5E (2014) Why is animate dead considered inherently evil?

Great! And now when they get defeated you've got rotting corpses all over the place. I'm not sure animate dead says it's preserving the corpses. Humans and rotting corpses have never been on the same level of danger. There's a reason we hsve an evolutionary aversion to the smell of rotting...

D&D 5E (2014) Why is animate dead considered inherently evil?

Is it being preserved by magic? If not it's carrying all kinds of micro organisms and maggots.

D&D 5E (2014) Why is animate dead considered inherently evil?

There is no way to justify animating dead as a good act. I always play it as evil, and off limits for Good aligned creatures. First every druid or nature spirit should be against it, not just good creatures. Corpses are corrupt physically. They bring disease, and they bring pests, so on a...

D&D 5E (2014) The Next D&D Book is JOURNEYS THROUGH THE RADIANT CITADEL

If you try to apply ANY science to elements of dungeons and dragons then you will be hit with a cascading effect of more questions. Plane Scape had tons of things like this and it doesn't have to be magic. You're going through a portal and the physics of the world can literally be different...

D&D 5E (2014) The Next D&D Book is JOURNEYS THROUGH THE RADIANT CITADEL

In fairness though, isn't this what people do? Even Before Forums. Just sitting around your FLGS before the net people look through the preview books of Marvel, TSR, WHite Wolf, whatever and just talk about it. Some were excited, others were complaining. Its a forum discussion, and this...

    D&D 5E (2014) Toward a new D&D aesthetics

So the thing I object to in D&D Art Aesthetic is not the diversity of the subject. Its that is going more towards the modern. Thats simply not what I want out of D&D. I have other games for Modern.

D&D General How has D&D changed over the decades?

The purpose was not to spread lies about 4e. And really at this point if someone thinks its a combat only game who cares? WOTC not going to resurrect it.

D&D General How has D&D changed over the decades?

It was a run down of the different editions that were also not entirely accurate. I think people are a bit sensitive 4e was so short lived. It doesnt matter anymore.

D&D 5E (2014) The Next D&D Book is JOURNEYS THROUGH THE RADIANT CITADEL

I get what youre going for but look at the other art styles around adult fantasy at the time. The new book is definitely a fun fluffy tone compared to its contemporaries.

BUt their not Celebrating the actual whining. They are ANTICIPATING their elation that people will not like a thing. So they are taking joy in the fact that a particular move by a company is going to upset a particular set of fans. Not the whining itself. Its very petty and weird.

D&D General How has D&D changed over the decades?

Fair Enough. I run 5e very sporadically. It is my live game from before the pandemic beginning and we meet maybe every three months now. My normal Games are Warhammer 4, D&D 3.5/PF1, and HERO System which has a different dynamic when PCs are down.
