    Occult Slayer & Spell Turning.

Well that's cleared the ray business up then, glad I got that. I don't have an occult slayer, merely speculating that it was a PrC powerful enough for any fighter-type to lust after because all tanks hate being dominated etc. But to answer your question, if I did have one, Spellcraft is one...

    Occult Slayer & Spell Turning.

Umm, nitpicking it may be, but this is the very nature of our business here... it does clearly state some effects are rays. What about others? I follow your arguement, it's both logical and concise, but something doesn't sit right about a ray being an effect spell.

    Occult Slayer & Spell Turning.

That would cause a frickin' riot in my session... supported by the rules or not, it states clearly in the text that that's what is does do. Has anyone checked thee errata?
  4. Scratched_back

    Occult Slayer & Spell Turning.

Well it's a range touch attack, you have to target someone to make an attack by the very nature of the word! I think the only way it couldn't be turned is if by sheer fluke the caster was aiming at somebody else and the ray hit him by accident... :\
  5. Scratched_back

    Occult Slayer & Spell Turning.

If you check the actual book itself matey, the example used is a charm person targetting the occult slayer. The text in the example says that it acts as YOU charming HIM.

    Occult Slayer & Spell Turning.

Perhaps you should read the class again friend, the 100% immunity I was talking about is a separate feature. At 5th level they gain the ability to blank their mind making them IMMUNE TO MIND AFFECTING SPELLS as well as pattern effects etc... in ADDITION he gets to turn 2 spells per day. I...

    First Character Deaths

Oh embarrassing times... Okay, the first adventure I played was the "Time of Troubles" trilogy, although I can't remember if that's it's real name or not. We'd never played before, didn't know the forgotten realms history at all and when we aqquired an NPC named "Cyric" nobody batted an eyelid...

Hands up if you use a familiar!

Well I started this thread a little while ago now, and since then my DM has assured me that everything is okay, and I will find my familiar very soon. With me playing a Sun Elf, and more to the point due to his background, an Envoy of Evermeet, I wanted something respectable, almost regal. All...

    Occult Slayer & Spell Turning.

That's just the thing... it IS veery powerful. Coupled with other abilities this PrC gets, he's unbelievable! Every fighter type fears getting dominated at the decent levels, like 12+, but if you take 5 levels as this mini-prestige, you're 100% immune, no ifs, no buts... and you can turn spells...

    Ninja & 'Ghost Step' invisibility.

That's why it came up, I think I'll be playing a ninja very shortly in a new oriental campaign we're starting, just wanted to be sure what I was getting myself into before we start. I guess it would still be moderatey useful if I was wrong... used to flee combat etc.

    Occult Slayer & Spell Turning.

I thought as much. I shall explain this to him, possibly with a smug smile. I still like multiple opinions though, to be sure :)
  12. Scratched_back

    Ninja & 'Ghost Step' invisibility.

That's the whole point though mate, it says the word 'invisibility' but it doesn't say as the spell invisibility which I'm pretty sure it should if that were the case. Just because it mentions the word invisibility doesn't necessarily mean the spell. It's just a word... like cabbage, or giraffe...

    Ninja & 'Ghost Step' invisibility.

In the same day as my other thread regarding the occult slayer, this issue caused debate between the same friend and myself, as there are (again) two valid interpretations: 1) The ninja becomes invisible as the spell invisibility and all rules apply. 2) The ninja is invisible for one full...
  14. Scratched_back

    Occult Slayer & Spell Turning.

This has recently caused a slight arguement between a friend and I, as there are two quite valid interpretations: 1) This ability functions just as spell turning does, except it has no duration and is in effect a 'one off' and the level of spell you are allowed to turn is your occult slayer...

    Fantasy Names

This site has been great, you've all been great, thankyou! On this site (I think people should go if you haven't already looked, and you have a pop-up blocker ;)) I love the feature that enables you to type in any word and it'll find you a name meaning that word. Very high-tech. For instance...

    Fantasy Names

SJ's surname is Heywood, and mine is Glover. We're not married obviously (the shame, oh the shaaaaaame) so we're not sure which surname the baby will be blessed with yet, but I think more likely than not it will be Heywood. It's a nightmare actually, I had about twenty bloody boy's names to...

    Holding a touch spell... indefinitly.

Ohhhhhhhhhhkay, so I've seen arguements too and fro, I've seen flat refusals and I've seen acceptances with stipulations, i.e. TWF rules... seems to be a little scattered to say the least. Is this one of those "It boils down to your DM." situations?

    Holding a touch spell... indefinitly.

Surely it's not as critical as scratching your nose matey, I mean, my nose is part of me... as is the hand holding the charge, yes? I mean, if we're going to be pedantic about things I guess you could say if I touch my robes it discharges, my boots, a scroll etc etc... but I don't know if any DM...

    Holding a touch spell... indefinitly.

On the 2nd point, why not? I always thought it was possible... :\

    Holding a touch spell... indefinitly.

Hi all, Just another slight rules conundrum! I play a 1stFighter/5thWiz/2ndElditchKnight and I use a greatsword. A lot of the time I tend to use Vampyric touch to recoup hitpoints to give our cleric a bit of a break, and also inflict a little damage. My question is, when you hold a touch...
