What fantasy setting do you use?

I'm stunned ...by the high ratings seen for Greyhawk. Despite the lack of support from WoTC, the limited source material, the lack of a metaplot (though I consider this last bit a feature), etc, etc, it seems like a lot of folks actually play in Greyhawk. I'm one of them as well, since I DM 2...

D&D 3.x Converting Old 3E to New 3E standard problems

I'm with Celebrim The only reason that I would do a "straight" conversion is so I could submit the conversion to a publicly downloadable site like ENWORLD. I would not bother otherwise. Otherwise, I would just do the conversion for my own campaign, and be done with it.

D&D 3.x Converting Old 3E to New 3E standard problems

Heh. As the person who wrote the above mentioned conversion, I just did a straight conversion, no real changes. It turned out that that approach worked fine for the Temple, which is surprisingly correct for 3E, mostly because of the NPCs, which have scaled up at the same rate as the PCs. My real...

    Gates of Firestorm Peak

The problem with doing a d20 license conversion is that you're not allowed to use anything from the splat books --- those aren't OGL. A 4.5' Dwarf will enlarge to about 6' --- not sufficient to increase reach. Those NPCs will probably not make a lot of difference to the PCs. On the other hand...

    D&D Holiday Gift

An adventure for characters between 17-19 levels, please. :-) For some reason, Dungeon magazine's published adventures for all levels except those.

    Was ToEE ever fully converted?

Yes, it was converted. It used to be in the download area, but the mess that the site's been through has been absolutely horrid, and it might have gotten lost. If you can't find it there, send me e-mail and I'll mail it to you.

Your favourite D20 publisher and why

Malhavoc Press. I'll admit it. I'm a Monte Cook fanboy. While I've banned lots of things from the WoTC splatbooks, everything in the Eldritch Might books have been fine with me. And I can't wait to sic Demon Gods Fane on 'em.

    [OT] Atkin's Diet

Re: Despite my (excessivly?) strong opinons on the subject I am NOT an expert The new federal guidelines indicate that for maximum cardiovascular health, an average of an hour a day is sufficient...

    [OT] Atkin's Diet

Oh, I mis-remebered Brian Robinson's name the first post around. Here's a link to Brian Robinson's site about his Triple-Crown: http://royrobinson.homestead.com/Triple_Crown.html

    [OT] Atkin's Diet

the secret to exercise... ... is to find something you enjoy so much that you'll keep doing it. This morning I was out mountain biking. At the junction of the singletrack and the fire road, 1000' up the mountain and 14 miles away from home, I met this guy who was a trail runner eating a...

    Gates of Firestorm Peak

Has anyone start converting this scenario? I'm about to start, but if someone has already gotten started, I'd rather pool efforts than do redundant work.

    Preferred d20 Superhero system?

Re: Re: My thoughts... Skill name changes were NOT made for CoC d20. As someone who spent many hours converting Masks, I know. I kept having to map Astronomy to Knowledge (Astronomy), Debate to Diplomacy, etc, etc. That is one of the hallmarks of a design that works with d20. There's absolutely...

    Rerolling Hit Points

I use this rule: if you don't like your hit points, you can re-roll, but you MUST keep the second result, even if it's lower. Yes, sometimes players roll two 1s, when that happens, they shrug and go, "Oh well, the dice have it in for me."

    D20 Wuxia

Count me in for d20 WuXia. It'll be really cool. We'll get to do writeups for traditional favorites, like "Li of the Flying Knives", "Chu Liu Xiang, the perfumed Swordsman", and of course, the grand daddy of Cantonese Kung Fu masters, "Huang Fei Hong."

    Please recommend some new SF

You've got to read Daniel Keys Moran's: "The Long Run", if you can find a copy anywhere (check out your local library, it's been long out of print). It's awesome. "The Last Dancer" is great too.

What kind of Earth society/culture would you like written up?

I agree with the previous poster who said that China has actually not been covered adequately. Mythic China, the China in "Crouching Tiger", and many many other Chinese novels from Gu Long or Jin Yong has not been adequately covered. It is in some ways a heroic setting (heroes can take enormous...

    Help with Monster Books?

Playing D&D without study or preparation.

a few hints for winging it 1. The NPC tables in the DMG are incredibly helpful. Use them. 2. Feel free to rip off NPCs from other adventures, Dungeon magazine, etc. 3. Use the CR table at the back of the monster manual. 4. If things get boring, "At this point, the door behind you opens and...

Which adventures from Dungeon Magazine have you used since it went 3E?

I've run: "Wedding Bells" (#89), "The Dungeon of the Fire Opal" (#84), "The Statue Gallery" (#93), "Swamp Stomp" (#93), and "Lust", #95. I intend to run several more. (Yeah, I'm getting a lot of value out of my Dungeon subscription :)
