Legacy of the Silver Dragon (Swords and Wizardry Core, 4th Ed)

Whizbang Dustyboots: Cool! Makes my life easier. :) Fenris? You still here? Binder Fred: Be careful about investing too much character development up front! I don't plan to be an adversarial, killer, DM, but I can't guarantee survival for a first level character in an 'old school'...

Legacy of the Silver Dragon (Swords and Wizardry Core, 4th Ed)

Quick update... I have most of the Campaign background written up. One snag is, my laptop at home might be on its last legs (hard drive is making all kinds of fun noises). I have a replacement (actually a touchpad with keyboard) coming tomorrow but might take me a bit to get up to speed on it...

Legacy of the Silver Dragon (Swords and Wizardry Core, 4th Ed)

So, one of the things to decide is: Are your characters local to the town, or not. My personal preference is 'local to the town' for a couple of reasons: 1. I have to do less world building. ;) One of the benefits of this format is that the DM can get away with a rough mental outline of the...

Legacy of the Silver Dragon (Swords and Wizardry Core, 4th Ed)

Ok, so our character list so far is: Bosco Bracegirdle: Halfling Thief (Dextrous and Charismatic... and apparently at least somewhat wise.. the first two are classic Thief.. The last... refreshingly unusual ;) ) Antares: Elven Fighter/Magic User (Pretty nice all around... Super strong...

Interest Check: Swords & Wizardry, possible PbP

Oh, I'd already checked out your characters elsewhere... Put the way you did, my possible worries are vanished, at least as far as any meta problems... I'll need to think about this some more, but mostly I think it works. We still have a minor issue with the strength based opening/pushing...

Legacy of the Silver Dragon (Swords and Wizardry Core, 4th Ed)

Ok, those rolls are accepted... :) Note that if you choose a Cleric, you get 1 bonus first level spell due to a Wisdom above 15+. Otherwise, Clerics can't cast spells until 2nd level. Remember also that you can switch any two attributes if you'd prefer NOT to play a cleric.

Interest Check: Swords & Wizardry, possible PbP

We'll be using Descending AC, for that Old School Flavor. Let me think about the elf 'reskinning' physical actions as magical a bit more. I realized this morning what was bothering me, and it was a 'meta' issue. I'm hoping for the game to have a good amount of character...

Interest Check: Swords & Wizardry, possible PbP

Binder Fred: We do need one more player. I like the character concept. Let me think about the 'reskinning powers' bit. My initial reaction is that it's an interesting take on elves, but there are some cases I can immediately think of which make it potentially problematic. An example: Your...

Legacy of the Silver Dragon (Swords and Wizardry Core, 4th Ed)

Whizbang: Thanks! Fenris: The rolls you made fall under the second category for a re-roll of the character if you want it (no attribute above 13). If you want to keep the rolls, feel free to do so. The town is named Ascadar after the adventurer that founded it in the past (specific time line...

Interest Check: Swords & Wizardry, possible PbP

Still searching for one more player. I have opened the 'OOC' thread for the campaign here: http://www.enworld.org/forum/talking-talk/310155-legacy-silver-dragon-swords-wizardry-core-4th-ed.html

Legacy of the Silver Dragon (Swords and Wizardry Core, 4th Ed)

One thing I'm debating is starting stats and character generation: Unlike more modern iterations, abilities really aren't as important - or at least don't appear to be at first blush. The range of modifiers and what they modify is generally less (though 4th edition S&W did add a few additional...

Legacy of the Silver Dragon (Swords and Wizardry Core, 4th Ed)

This is a new PbP based on the Swords and Wizardy Core (4th edition) ruleset. I aim to get started between next weekend (August 20th) and the end of the month, depending on how things flow. Here you can find both the free PDF, and the print edition of the 4th edition rules (if you decide to...

Interest Check: Swords & Wizardry, possible PbP

I'd be happy to have both of you (Whizbang and Fenris) involved. I have one other player I'm trying to get on board - he's never done a PbP, but enjoys D&D and writing. That leaves probably room for 1 more player, so if anyone else is up for this kind of game, please let me know. One thing...

Interest Check: Swords & Wizardry, possible PbP

A bump with just a bit more info: The campaign would be titled: Legacy of the Silver Dragon The backdrop is a small town on the outskirts of human civilization that had a protector in the form of a Silver Dragon named Eliaesel, who lived in a mountain nearby. She was effectively the ruler of...

Interest Check: Swords & Wizardry, possible PbP

Actually, looking at it a bit more closely, I'd probably go with 4th printing. Things are a touch more flexible with classes/races. Still only 4 base classes: Fighter, Magic-User, Cleric and Thief. A Dwarf may be a Fighter or a multi-classed Fighter-Thief. A Fighter-Thief is limited to only...

Interest Check: Swords & Wizardry, possible PbP

In S&W Core Rules (which is what I would use, as opposed to the 'Complete' version), class and race are separate - sort of. Hmm, looking at the PDF and the third printing that I have, there are definitely changes between the two. From the third printing: Humans can be any of the classes...

Interest Check: Swords & Wizardry, possible PbP

So, awhile back I ran a PbP on another board and generally enjoyed it. Things died due to RL issues both for myself and some players. I'm interested in starting up another PbP, but this time instead of going with a somewhat rules heavy game (as the Midnight/D3.5 game was), I want to switch to an...

Cape Cod Area 3rd Edition Gamers sought!

Greetings! I'm a member of a four player group (including the DM) on lower Cape Cod (Falmouth/Mashpee/Hyannis). We are looking for one or two more roleplayers who are interested in serious, adult themed roleplaying. It is likely that our group will prefer 3rd Edition (3.5), but we do plan to...

Midnight: Shadow of the Gods - Chapter 1

OOC Note: Guys. Things are really hectic for me right now which is why I haven't been on the MUSH lately. A trip next week due to bad news in the family plus possible jury duty this week have led me to not having much free time (lots of work needing done). Want to ask a couple of questions...
