I don’t know if you have seen the recent interviews with Jeremy Crawford, but they have not included the mixed parentage option from the play test in the 2024 PHB. They said if you want to play a half-elf or half-orc just use the 2014 version.

That representation could also be in a setting specific guide. That is one thing I wish WOTC did more as given more mechanical weight to different settings.

I guess I disagree. I’ve always thought the half things were weak conceptually. I’m happy to see they take a back burner to more interesting choices.

Ugh, inw Ugh. I would hate to be accused of playing a wizard correctly. That is so weighted with judgement and entitlement that I would not want to play in that group

There others to IIRC, but it is rare. Probably best for most people/groups to play with it being rare. Of course we play death at 0 period, so no big deal for us!

Have you looked at 5e yet wizard? It is not very complex. You have a lot of choice in spells, so a lot of options (spells), but that is not complexity
