That is not what I said. So it seems we’re stacking misunderstanding on misunderstanding. It happens. I’m getting in a plane so will need to drop shortly.

IDK, I have heard you say that repeatedly, but that it not the sense I have gotten from the people you corresponded with. It seems to me that you tend be the more aggressive and confrontational. But I can’t claim to have followed you posting or have a full picture of the conversations you have...

I’m not saying you should if the spirit of change is not your thing. Also, what is bad for you isn’t bad for everyone. If you don’t like it, don’t want to change it, then don’t buy it. I can imagine anyone is arguing you should buy something you don’t like. Not even sure why you brought that up.

My I don’t understand the context of what you quoted from the poster, but it does seem to disagree with the snips you posted.

I just think it is human nature. We are flawed creatures.

I mean that is how the game started so a lot of us old-timers have that attitude.

Odyssey is a one man design team and is looking to be a really interesting entry into the 5e market. Though I agree, if your not a professional designer making a RPG from the ground up is a tall task

That is not fair, CTHD goes far outside what anyone can do (that is why they use wires). So if you want to play zero to hero, and some people do, you need to start right at or just above 0 don’t you. However, I would also make magic extremely limited at this levels too. Maybe start as rituals...

IDK, I seem to remember complain about the design survey pretty early on, but I agree the real route is: it is not designed how I want

Sure, it is a personal thing, which I think immersion typically is. Some people don’t even care about it and treat D&D just a game, not a role playing game. There are all types.

You should talk to my DM, he thrash us on the regular and claims he is pulling his punches!

Yes, that is exactly it. Everyone is a “demigod” and therefore magical.

Attacks might be fine, that is not a full turn. That is just legendary actions. The issue was we were fighting a giant mountain troll that had 6 attacks, moves, and reactions (because 6 players). The image it conjured was of a giant Tasmanian devil zipping about the battlefield. It just didn’t...

At that level 20+ it really isn’t about immersion in reality (not that meteor storm or a vast number of spells are either)

Yep, there is a lot of fiction where a master warrior can cut the top off mountain - and that is before the ascend to be an immortal! This is mostly Asian (Korean, Chinese, and Japanese) that I am aware off, but they often give it a medieval fantasy setting. Personally I could see this in D&D...

As a player I don’t like a solo who can act after every PC. We tried that once and it just took me out of the fiction. Maybe it can be done right, but I don’t think it works for every monster.

There is lot of fiction where that is true though. Heck, in the Record of the Lodoss War the fighter can do it with a broom! Now, is that D&D? Not low levels, but you get high enough why not!

Start at 5th level then. Didn’t DS originally require OP characters because it was so brutal. Just start at 3 or 5 and go from there
