    EN World World Cup blog

I'm thrilled with the Australian result today (it's three goals and three points more than I feared we'd get, and after only one match, too). The Socceroos are definitely in a whole 'nother class since Hiddink took over. Of course, Farina (the last guy) was a joke of a coach, so they could...

[Spaceship Zero] Q-Ship (actually updated 19 May 2007)

"Venusian Christmas Carol" - Part 9 Fury,. Gustav and Larathra are brought into the cavern. Commander Fury is held by two burly Venusians, and has obviously been putting up something of a struggle, as his shirt is badly torn. S'Ondra pretends not to notice. "Oh my." Larathra peers around the...

[Spaceship Zero] Q-Ship (actually updated 19 May 2007)

It's a bit embarrassing to realise that I only made 3 posts in the 5 months that were lost to the board crash, but at least they are all back up, now.

[Spaceship Zero] Q-Ship (actually updated 19 May 2007)

"Venusian Christmas Carol" - Part 8 Fury's hand leaps toward his atomic pistol, but S'Ondra grabs his arm. "Keep your weapon holstered, Earthling." "She's told you that in my reality too." Gustav tells Fury. The leader of the Venusians steps forward, eyeing the group suspiciously. "Are you...

[Spaceship Zero] Q-Ship (actually updated 19 May 2007)

"Venusian Christmas Carol" - Part 7 The chopper races through a series of narrow rock canyons. White smoke pours from one side of the craft as it manoeuvres, but there's little risk of a crash with Fury's deft hands at the controls. The pursuing Space Force crew are not so lucky: the...

[Spaceship Zero] Q-Ship (actually updated 19 May 2007)

"Venusian Christmas Carol" - Part 6 "Drop the spear or I shoot!" Fury barks the order again, "Fire and die with me, invader." S'Ondra snarls back. The two tense, eyes narrowing as each waits for the other's move. "Fury! Good chap!" Gustav convivially slaps the Commander on the shoulder, "I...

[Spaceship Zero] Q-Ship (actually updated 19 May 2007)

The Good News: I wrote a new update during the flight home. The Bad News: I won't be able to post it until I get a suitable power cable for my laptop, which will take another week or two for delivery.

    Mastering Iron Heroes? Worth it?

I guess it's all about perspective, because I see Iron Heroes as being geared toward taking the tedious, dice-rolling bits of the average session and making them as fun and immersive as the actual roleplaying :) I loathed 2nd Edition combat because of how static and dull it was. 3e improved...

    Mastering Iron Heroes? Worth it?

The three villain classes in MIH are the demonic brute, dreaded sorcerer, and warleader. The "selling point" of the villain class concept is their convenience to GMs. Each comes in a range of CRs, ready statted with ability scores, feats, special abilities and so on. With the dreaded...

    Design & Development: Dislikes

I'm not Mike, but I've played in his games. This is basically the same approach to hit dice used in Iron Heroes: d12 becomes d4+8 d10 becomes d4+6 d8 becomes d4+4 d6 becomes d4+2 d4 becomes d2+2

Icewind Dale II -- any good?

I found it much more frustrating than the first. It's been a long time since I played it (I came to the US to work for a year and didn't bring it with me) but I think I'd got to the 2nd chapter and it was starting to get a little better.

Shackled City vs Age of Worms. FIGHT!

I consider the sessions of Age of Worms I've played in (basically to the end of the second module) to be some of the most painfully bad gaming I've ever endured. Shackled City on the other hand (at least through Life's Bazaar) has been tolerably good fun.

Feats for the Druid & Ranger - Please Critique

*shrug* Haven't seen it, and - since it isn't open content - it doesn't matter :) I knocked up the translation in about 90 seconds and left in the "you can take this multiple times" from the prior version. On review, I'd allow still this multiple times, but only to a maximum effect of...

    Characters in a word

Three characters, three one word descriptions: Pragmatic. (Lawful Neutral clerics of Hextor are like that) Doomed. (A Dwarven wizard with more ambition than is good for him) Amiable. (My ranger. He's a genuinely nice guy who likes a pint with his friends.)
