Those are definitely red flags for being toxic people. I wouldn't put up with that sort of behaviour on my table (I DM at a game store and I don't think the game store would either).

I'm D&D 5E by convenience. It is convenient for me to DM adventurers league at the local FLGS. If it was convenient to play elsewhere, I would play other things as well. I like standard array, because it is quick and easy. Gets me to the fun part quicker. I am tempted to get rid of ability scores and racial ASI, and just use the ability modifier using a FATE Accelerated array (+3, +2, +2, +1, +1, 0) or similar. Rolling or point by feel like book keeping to me.
