    WotC D&D Beyond current development

It seems to me that while they communicated a lot at the beginning, they were over-communicating and over-promising. They have been talking about these features since almost the beginning and haven't been good at delivering (i.e the general feature system and encounters which is still in beta)...

    WotC D&D Beyond current development

My theory is they need to get the general feature system working. They are going to need that or it will be a real pain to support OneD&D.

    Statement on OGL from WotC

This is 100% where I think they are at!

    Lore Isn't Important

My view is that lore should be inspirational but not tied down. You should be able to place it anywhere you need when it seems useful.

    Statement on OGL from WotC

It could be: "We haven't really thought about it (as a group)".

WotC WotC's Chris Perkins On D&D's Inclusivity Processes Going Forward

The whole idea of gendered nouns scares me. I can't get my head around everything having a gender.

D&D General Modules with a political message?

I agree. It makes me sad.

D&D General Modules with a political message?

Another factor is the mirror problem. For example, I have heard that the publishing world is particularly lacking in diversity. They end up publishing for themselves. Since they lack diversity as a cohort, the books that end up getting published aren't diverse. And, they perceive the audience to...

D&D General Modules with a political message?

I'm not sure that inclusion is 'always' forced. If you have a diversity of creators, you should have a natural element of inclusion. I wonder how many of the diverse creators have reduced the inclusivity in their works to conform to the white straight cis het stereotype. I was reading recently...

D&D General Not *Another* Halfling Thread! (+)

My last character was a Morris Dancer halfling dressed in black tatters called either Garner or Merry that I used for a series of casual games. He would dance for drink and grub at the local taverns. Either you paid him for his performance or you paid him to stop, he didn't care. I played the...

    D&D 5E (2024) Return to the 3 saves for 1D&D?

As someone who has only played B/X/1E/2E & 5E, it doesn't seem to be intuitive to me. I wouldn't object to cutting down the number of saves to DEX, CON and WIS though.

D&D General Why Editions Don't Matter

So this a random collection of my thoughts for improvements: I like the idea of a single book to start playing. It is a bit investment curve to go from a starter set or the basic rules to the three books. It would be nice if the PHB would give you enough to DM (ie monsters, magic items and...

D&D General Why Editions Don't Matter

This is an area I would like to see improved. The current DMG has information for putting together an adventure hook and high level structure. But lacks scaffolding for the detailed adventure design. It shouldn't need to be the 'one way' of adventure design. More a playbook style that will...

D&D General Why Editions Don't Matter

I think providing adventures are a really important traditional RPGs. They show you what the gameplay is meant to look like. This relies heavily on GM authority though. I had the traveller book which included two adventures. That was much better.

D&D General Why Editions Don't Matter

I really don't see it as being that difficult to learn to DM from picking up the books and playing. There is no need for being a player first or learning from the community. I would say that many of those social contracts come naturally. As an anecdote: I think a lot of these unwritten rules...

    D&D 5E (2014) Cubicle 7 Presents: Vault 5E-Unchartered Journeys

I think new guinea would be a good analogue. That is 1500 miles.

D&D General How many books/authors of the original AD&D Bibliography have you read? Do you feel you see D&D differently than people who have not read any?

I love the King of Elfland's Daughter. There is even a musical. I think there are four authors' books (Tolkien, Dunsany, Moorcock and Howard) that I have read that are on that list. I think I have read more of the authors, but not their fantasy since I am more of an SF person. It is hard to...

    D&D 5E (2014) Cubicle 7 Presents: Vault 5E-Unchartered Journeys

The journey to isle of dread takes about 2 weeks from memory. It was that bit I was thinking of. Not the hex crawl on the isle. It is only a days travel to the caves of chaos, but you need to find it first. I've never played that bit out as written, but it would take quite a few days. There are...

    D&D 5E (2014) Cubicle 7 Presents: Vault 5E-Unchartered Journeys

This is a hard choice for me. I'm thinking the journey mechanic would be good for Goodman Games' Into the Borderlands (i.e. finding the caves of chaos) and the journey to the Isle of Dread (if it included sea travel). But, the place I DM is about to move to Adventurer's League and I won't have...
