Just finished reading Asimov & Silverberg's Nightfall. It was meeh. Didn't seem to be going anywhere plot wise, ordinary characters and the idea that most people would go crazy (in bad stereotyped way) after suddenly seeing the stars for the first time in two thousand years didn't work over a novel.

This is why I recently taught myself book binding. So I can make hard-cover books of those PDFs.

Is it time for another boxed set? Maybe a replacement for the essentials kit?

I certainly see that tension in the writings of Sly Flourish. In particular, the balance between what and how much is prepared compared to what is improvised. And, it changes depending on the circumstances. How the DMG addresses this we have yet to truly see since we can only see the first page...

I'm not getting what you are trying to say. Any you saying that Apocalypse World does not contain any form on contradiction? I haven't read Apocalypse World, so I can't comment on that.

My thoughts are: This is an overview of the process. It is not going to have the detail to unpack these issues. For example, if you look at the 8 steps of the lazy dungeon master with out the explanations you will not understand how it works. The explanations are in the pages we haven't seen...

I picked using an adding 10 to the initiate bonus from Sly Flourish. It works quite well, especially for multiple monsters. There is enough randomness is the initiative system with the players rolling.

IMO, traits, ideals and bonds should be an optional system. I DM casual games in a game store. It never comes up in those sorts of games.

How do you do weapon attacks? I have decided on that yet.
