My Opinion of WOTC's Digital Initative and the current events

Actually, the interface works quite well these days. Now implementing rule changes.. that takes some work. Excel won't work for this - it will be a java-based, cross-platform methodology. Regardless, there are multiple places in the character process that are impacted by this change, and...

My Opinion of WOTC's Digital Initative and the current events

Download PCGen and implement that change. Tell me how long it takes you. ;) And how is this implemented in the character generator itself? Remember, that your front-end has to be translated into the backend in a meaningful way. You changing class-skills also impacts which feats are...

My Opinion of WOTC's Digital Initative and the current events

Ever used PCGen? I've been using it since version 2 (I believe the current prod version is 5.10.1), and it's still buggy, but by far is the best example of program similar to what the DI would need - something platform-independent, flexible, and scalable. You are right, it isn't as hard to...

My Opinion of WOTC's Digital Initative and the current events

Sounds like Neverwinter Nights to me. And given the massive amount of support for that product by a company who is in the business of making software, the bugginess of software in general, and so on, why do you think that WotC's DI will in any way be able to keep this "leveling" software...

The 3 reasons why I am done with WotC

Price out every product they released in 2006 and about 3 cases of minis per set released Moogle... And that doesn't count items I bought for others for gifts. I think my actual number was $3,105 if my records from last year are correct.

WotC Replies: Statements by WotC employees regarding Dragon/Dungeon going online

Sorry, Crothian - again this is spin control. If WotC had this PR campaign pre-planned they would have inundated all of the big forums from Day 1. They clearly did not do so, and now are saying they are afraid of posting? Why? Is someone going to take them to task for it? Clearly so -...

The 3 reasons why I am done with WotC

Really? Funny, I just purchased $300 worth of minis last month. :) Yeah, they produce enough stuff to waste money on...

Pathfinder 1E Paizo no longer publishing Dungeon and Dragon

It's not only about what was said, but when it was said - after the fact. I'm pretty sure WotC knew what Paizo's big announcement was, and should have coordinated their PR to coincide. To do otherwise in business screams that WotC: Didn't expect to have to deal with a huge backlash. Is...

The 3 reasons why I am done with WotC

If out of 2 million D&D gamers (year 2000 numbers I believe) there are only 500 of us that devoted to the game who are outraged (0.025 % of the population), that's a loss of $3m a year. If they price at $10 a month, you'd need to attract 25,000 subscribers. Of course if they charge $30 a...

The 3 reasons why I am done with WotC

Well, I know from posts from yesterday and today that Diaglo and I are out of the WotC buying business. I don't believe either of us were clamoring for online-only Dragon/Dungeon magazines. And just the two of us apparently spend about $6000/year on WotC product. How many online subscribers...

Pathfinder 1E Paizo no longer publishing Dungeon and Dragon

Sure, I spend about $300 a month on average for WotC stuff (includes minis). When can I expect my first check? :p

Tom Moldvay passes away (see post #52)

This is a shame. Tom was a strong force in D&D back in the day, and I know I enjoyed all of his works, whether as a player or a DM. Condolences for his family and friends. Any chance the mods can send threadwishes to his sister and family?

Pathfinder 1E Paizo no longer publishing Dungeon and Dragon

Lets see, I have copies of every issue of each of these products, and have been a long-time subscriber of both. I spend an ungodly amount of money on gaming, specifically d20 and WotC products in any given year. I have a large collection of nearly every product ever made by TSR/WotC and a lot...

    XBox 360 Elite

Yup, I tried one of the cheap ones with my PS3 and my Aquos - it did stink. Once I grudgingly paid for an expensive one, I was pleased by the result. YMMV.
