D&D 5E (2014) Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide: Player Content Guesses

I want mostly fluff and lore in this book and maybe only 32 pages of crunch (assuming a 160 page book). I'm not sure that's what we'll get though since it is described as a player's option book... that probably means at least half of the book will be new backgrounds, races, classes, etc...

Mike Mearls on stuff... (Tome Show interview from GenCon)

I understand, along with everyone else here, that the game will change over time. It always has. I'm just surprised Mearls even mentions a revised PHB when it's only been out for a year. It's coming, it's just a matter of when.

D&D 5E (2014) Campaign setting strategy: Would a big campaign setting guide followed by regional books be better?

Aren't all the APs set in the Sword Coast? Tons of info there and likely more to come in Out of the Abyss. Forgotten Realms Adventures has info on cities like Baldurs Gate. 3E City of Spendors and the big 2E Waterdeep boxed set detail the biggest city on the Sword Coast (Ruins of...

D&D 5E (2014) Sword Coast book - not really a campaign setting? And some speculations about the future

I don't know, is WotC really a company that's just poking around in the dark to see what works? They don't know what their own fans want? 5E is a great edition but WotC does not act like a leader in the industry and it's "strategy", if it has one, seems all over the place.

Mike Mearls on stuff... (Tome Show interview from GenCon)

Thanks for posting this summary. I read it and what jumped out at me is that there will definitely be another version of the Player's Handbook produced with revised content in a couple of years. Kinda leaves a bad taste in my mouth but I should have expected as much.

D&D 5E (2014) Rage of Demons more details.

2E deities had stats or at least their avatars did, just look in the Faiths & Avatars book. It lists their ability scores, hit points, magic resistance, etc... great book too, btw.

D&D 5E (2014) Gen Con is in full swing: Anyone seen Out of the Abyss?

Wow, thanks for sharing that. Pretty cool and the artwork is top notch. I'm starting to think of Out of the Abyss more and more as a demon book disguised as an AP.

D&D 5E (2014) Sword Coast book - not really a campaign setting? And some speculations about the future

This sounds like great news but it doesn't seem very likely from where I stand right now. I mean, covering the entire continent or even a good chunk of it will take forever unless they radically increase their release schedule. One or even two Realms books a year will mean the Realms will be...

    D&D 5E (2014) GenCon Loot

Interesting, that's not something I even considered. Seems unlikely but still possible.

D&D 5E (2014) Campaign setting strategy: Would a big campaign setting guide followed by regional books be better?

I doubt the SCAG book will retread old material from the APs, that would be kinda disappointing for many people (although maybe not me as much because I haven't bought any APs yet). On an unrelated note, I keep seeing people say in threads how little known the Sword Coast area is... I'm not...

D&D 5E (2014) Sword Coast book - not really a campaign setting? And some speculations about the future

I've been wondering about this kind of thing too. In 3E, the FR books looked distinctly different from the other 3E books that were produced. I think that the cover of the SCAG book looking just like the core 5E books is an indicator that they have no intention of producing more Realms books...

D&D 5E (2014) Campaign setting strategy: Would a big campaign setting guide followed by regional books be better?

I want both... I want an overall campaign setting book and I also want regional books that go into more detail about a particular area. That said, I'd be very surprised if we see anything else beyond the SCAG book. I have a feeling that it's all the setting material we'll see on the Realms...

D&D 5E (2014) Gen Con is in full swing: Anyone seen Out of the Abyss?

Excellent question and something that I've been wondering about myself too. Does the physical book exist there to buy? And, what has the experience of playing through some of it been like?

    D&D 5E (2014) My ideal D&D product model

Overall, I'm not that big on the APs... they are ok and I might eventually buy one or two (I haven't bought any of them yet). I just can't get that excited about them, they're too big and try to be too many things at once (part adventure, part setting material, part player options). I might...

    D&D 5E (2014) GenCon Loot

I know what you mean but I think this is something we have to learn to get used to (unfortunately). At this point, I think we should just be thankful that Out of the Abyss and the SCAG book is on the horizon. I was thinking for awhile that there would be no setting material published at all.

D&D 5E (2014) Rage of Demons more details.

Many people will. This AP may be the closest thing to a book on demons that we will see in 5E. That alone may sell a lot of books.

D&D 5E (2014) Rage of Demons more details.

I guess that could make sense. The whole thing still sounds goofy though, like some kind of dream sequence instead of a "real" event in the Realms. I was planning on buying Out of the Abyss for sure this fall but now I wonder if I should pick PotA instead. I guess I will wait for some...

Because they have better things to do than swat flies.
