There are indeed a lot of stats in the 3E book that are no longer relevant outside of 3E. However, I like how the book tries to cover a broader section of territory in Faerun more equally. And, the maps are prettier :) Really, you should get both the 2E and 3E Realms settings if you can...

The 2nd and 3rd edition versions of the Realms are probably the best. Both give a bit more information on the Dalelands than the other regions of Faerun with the idea of having you start there, but you can, of course, choose to start your game somewhere besides Shadowdale. I've always liked...

I suspect WotC will move on to another setting after PotA... at least I hope so. I really like the Realms but it would be better to spread the AP love around a bit to make things more interesting. Dragonlance will probably not be next since we've already had a dragon-based AP theme with HotDQ...

Man, your FLGS sucks as much as mine does. When I checked my FLGS website a few days ago, there was no mention of PotA on their March calendar so my guys didn't bother to order it either. I shouldn't be too surprised though since no one plays D&D there either, just Pathfinder and lots of MTG...

Supposedly there is a short adventure included for 1st level PCs as well so you can get them up to 3rd level and then start out on the main path of the adventure. I think that is very cool. I also like the idea of using some or all of LMoP as well and then having that branch off to do PotA...

It's pretty clear that if WotC ever does get back into the business of making campaign settings that these will be the ones they concentrate on first. Actually, I think the Forgotten Realms would probably be first but that's just my gut feeling. BTW, thanks for the review of PotA. I can't...

Me as well, I was kinda on the fence but I'm definitely getting it now that I know more about it. It sounds like a top-notch adventure. If it's as good as it sounds then maybe people will start seeing PotA as the flagship adventure for 5E.

Sounds like a great adventure and I'm definitely getting it. Can we get a confirmation on the page count of the book? I'm sure it's between 256 and 320 but I'd love to know the exact number.

I'm interested in the screen too. If done properly with the right artwork and some general info so it also has use outside of PotA, it might be a real winner. I know I'd consider buying it.

Wizards should release an Elemental Evil dice set as well... or four sets each with an elemental theme.
