More Info on the Faction Contacts

I have posted a new product to the DMsguild that you might want to check out to enhance your AL/D&D games. I have compiled, re-edited, and updated all of the previously published "Conversations With" articles that looked at the Faction contacts in the Moonsea region and added NEW information...

D&D Podcast - Talking about Curse of Strahd With Chris Perkins and Tracy Hickman

For those interested, the Adventurers League story ties in well to this, but in this case dealing with some of Strahd's minions and how their plots spiral out on their own while trying to implement the master's plans...

No WotC At Gen Con This Year?

I don;t know that its only that, but I think the idea is to get more people to play. Origins has a long of minis/card/board game people that don't always hit Gen Con, so you bring them in. It's also large enough to still have lots of D&D players while still having the space to set up big events...

No WotC At Gen Con This Year?

Because at Origins they can get a large, quiet room where you can do it justice. And since the WOTC is also going to Origins, they can also be onsite to help with the launch.

Season 4 Curse of Strahd and Adventurers League

The Epic which we are distributing to even more cons this season (seasons are 6 months, not a year) is directly tied to the Phlan story. As for random extra adventures I won't say no, but there is currently no budget for it. Season 4 is an odd situation (the authors were already paid out of the...

Season 4 Curse of Strahd and Adventurers League

Hopefully not to throw away, since much of the season 5 plot is informed by the success or failure of what the season 4 PCs do, you might actually get some significant use out of being one of the survivors of Barovia.

Season 4 Curse of Strahd and Adventurers League

So you would argue for not innovating/doing anything new if its not something that was in the campaign since season 1 when the core books came out? Seems like things would get stale pretty fast.

No WotC At Gen Con This Year?

BMG runs the games for Winter Fantasy, Origins, and Gen Con. WOTC has decided this year to only send staff in an official capacity to WF and Origins. That won't change a lot for the average player as far as their games, but it likely means more seminars, guest DMs and the like for WF and Origins.

Season 4 Curse of Strahd and Adventurers League

The AL is not the D&D police, we're not going to hunt you down and audit you. All that might happen is some DMs might just refuse to play with you later if they notice things odd. Cheaters are gonna cheat, its how they work. The community will police themselves. I think I am more concerned that...

No WotC At Gen Con This Year?

I'll let BMG make their announcements since I don't want to speak for them. I think it will be less noisy, but like pretty much every space at Gen Con, I don't think it will be perfect.

Adventurers League Adventures Now Available To All

We are in the process of getting the files (the Admins don't hold them and don't have the program used in their layout) so we can make edits to them. Anyone that buys a copy will get an email from DMsguild.com when the updated file is uploaded so you can get a fresh copy.

No WotC At Gen Con This Year?

Another difference about Winter Fantasy is that since there are fewer attendees, you get a lot more one on one time with designers and other industry folks. A lot of industry people are often there, sometimes they actually get to play, but even if they are not on a panel at the time, they are...

No WotC At Gen Con This Year?

You know BMG also runs all of the games for WOTC at Origins as well, right?

No WotC At Gen Con This Year?

D&D has moved to a different location at Gen Con this year.

Season 4 Curse of Strahd and Adventurers League

You could easily bring a mid level PC in half way through the season (as an example). You could also play the first few, skip a few and then play the next. You do not have to play them in order, its just recommended. However, if you are playing, you cannot leave until you find an in game exit so...

Season 4 Curse of Strahd and Adventurers League

The adventures give nonstandard xp rewards (since we are focusing on those playing the intended way). If you left the series, played a bunch of mods, you would level out and not be able to play.

Season 4 Curse of Strahd and Adventurers League

I would note that this statement in particular is something that we'll stretch many times over upcoming seasons. We plan to try lots of new things, evolve and change, so to say AL is suppose to be a specific thing and always that, well, that's going to be hard. We want to offer lots of ways to play.

Season 4 Curse of Strahd and Adventurers League

Both adventures are designed to be played in 2 hours with information (and material) to expand them to 4 hours if the DM/Table/convention desires. That makes it up to you as an organizer. At the local con I am running the spring, I have them each set for a 4 hour block.
