Why aren't D&D dogs more like real dogs?

I think this thread is a good indication of why a d20 dog book would sell well. If I weren't so lazy and/or incompetent, I'd write one myself. :)

    (Adventure) Tiggle's Order

    Nope, nobody ever contacted me.

    Tokiwong's 3.5 Game: Chapter 1 (The Swarm)

Jalban chuckles. "A dire badger, you say? My uncle Dulda used to have a dire badger. Mean little feller he was, but loveable still. The badger, that is. Well, Dulda too. Anyways, one time Aunt Gertie had baked fifty snapberry pies for the harvest festival, and that little critter..."...

    Does resizing bows affect range?

Centaurs are screwed up anyways. There's no way that human half should have a +8 to strength.

    (Discussion) General Part III

My character appears to be missing. In my sig, I have a link to a thread on the old boards - thread #60933 - that I thought had my character sheet. Well, that thread no longer exists, on either the old boards or the new, and my character isn't in the sticky thread with all the other...

    3.0rd Edition Power Game

Aramil looks back and forth at his companions, shrugging to indicate that he doesn't speak orcish. His arrow is still ready, and looks nervously at his comrades for signs of what's going on.

    Tokiwong's 3.5 Game: Chapter 1 (The Swarm)

Jalban eats quietly, keeping his eyes averted. As the others talk, he occasionally glances around, staring at the faces of the dwarves. He notices Puck staring at him and quickly turns his head to stare at the ground, his blood burning with the feeling of rejection.

    Tokiwong's 3.5 Game: Chapter 1 (The Swarm)

Jalban stops the group and whispers. "Dwarves, up ahead. Looks like three of them. We could ask them if they have seen any sign of goblin activity."

Dragon Disciple - a viable option?

You get a +7 to your BAB, and +8 to strength. +8!!! That's the equivalent of a +11 BAB for 10 levels, plus the extra damage that goes along with the strength increase. How on earth is that underpowered?

    good forced to do evil?

That only matters if you're a cleric. Arcane casters are free to summon anything they want.

(Adventure) Hunt for the Cirya de Pietro [Judge - garyh]

"Aye have a question," Zumar says as he steps forward, eyeing the other dwarf up and down. "Ye say that ye're a repairman? Why would a repairman be troubled by pirates? And why would a repairman own a ship?"

Chiming in on the D&D minis (merged with "anyone buying the new Mini's?")

When I was looking around on ebay yesterday, it looked like the rares sold for just under $8 each, on average. Which means that if these discounts hold up, I have a bunch of free mooks by selling off the rares. ;)

Chiming in on the D&D minis (merged with "anyone buying the new Mini's?")

I just ordered one. Damn you, Henry. I had been holding back on ordering one from Potomac distribution, since they have a $125 minimum order and are $116 a case..then you had to go on and post a site with an even cheaper price and no minimum order. My wallet hates you. :(

    Thumbs Down to 3.5 Edition

My point wasn't really about the realism, I simply wanted to address the Halfling Longspear straw man that keeps getting propped up in these arguments. It was a glitch in 3.0, and it's a glitch in 3.5. The glitch in 3.5 is balanced by a penalty. And there's nothing complex about the new...

    Tokiwong's 3.5 Game: Chapter 1 (The Swarm)

Jalbran talks to the inkeeper about getting some food for the road. OOC: I went ahead and bought 10 days rations at book price.

    Thumbs Down to 3.5 Edition

3.0: Heavy lance, one-handed weapon, 10' reach, no attack penalties. 3.5: Halfling longspear, one-handed weapon, 10' reach, -2 attack penalty. I'd say 3.5 is more realistic. Wielding a 10' long weapon in one hand ought to be difficult. Why should they have to? Why can't the halfings make...

(Adventure) Hunt for the Cirya de Pietro [Judge - garyh]

As Katherine calls out to Jericho, Zumar glances around the shop, shaking his head at the fact that a dwarven craftsman has been reduced to playing handyman for humans.

(Tavern) City of Orussus, The Red Dragon Inn II

Overhearing talk of pirates, Zumar looks up from his mug. "Pirates, eh? Sounds interesting. Ay've neer been on a boat 'afore....but ay'm always willin t' hunt down troublemakers. Ye can count me in, if'n ye need another."

    Tokiwong's 3.5 Game: Chapter 1 (The Swarm)

Jalban raises his mug in acknowledgement, and nods to the mayor. "For many years, goblins have attacked my village and slaughtered my brothers. I'll hunt them to the end of the earth, if I have to. My name is Jalban Thalbrand, and your cause is mine."

    Simple solution to multiclassing problem

Another way to do it is to allow all classes with similar charts to stack their levels. For instance, a Rogue 1/Bard 1/Monk 1/Cleric 1/Druid 1 would have the same BAB as a 5th level rogue, instead of a BAB of 0. Then again, I've never heard too many people complain about this. I'm a lot more...
