D&D 5E (2014) Mythological Figures: Nymue, Lady of the Lake

Are there stats for the Sidhe in 5E? If not, convert the stats from the 2E Celts HR sourcebook, add modifications you would for a water elemental genasi template. Voila!

D&D 5E (2014) Mythological Figures: Nymue, Lady of the Lake

Water genasi are part something or other from the Plane of Water, whether true elemental or Marid or mephit. Some wild shaping would be appropriate, the Feys were known for their ability to alter their form.

D&D 5E (2014) Mythological Figures: Nymue, Lady of the Lake

She should be mixed Sidhe and Water Elemental, not part Human. In 3E there'd be a template for that, not sure about 5E. She should have levels of Druid, as well, for more Celtic flavour.

D&D 5E (2014) Would you buy a Dark Sun setting book for 5e?

It would need to have an update of the TW&TW psionics rules, and the half-giants would need to be Large, like they were in the original 2E rules, none of those Extra Medium half-giants we got in 3E.

    D&D 3.x Comparison to 3.5e

I hate the 5E skill system, it is too watered down, it has no crunch, and I miss feat chains. Character creation since 4E has been a straight-jacket. While 5E is a little better, it is still does not allow that breadth or depth of character development that 3E enabled. Seen one 5E Paladin, seen...

Unearthed Arcana Why UA Psionics are never going to work in 5e.

You cannot have a Psion that is sufficiently different from the Wizard to be worth playing if it uses spells. Psionics needs to be a non-magical supernatural power with its own rules or it is just going to be magic with new age window dressing. That is why it was made skill-based in 2E.

Unearthed Arcana Why UA Psionics are never going to work in 5e.

I like the 3E psionics up to a point, it had things worth keeping, like the feats. What I have seen of the UA psionics has some interesting ideas, but it also does not feel like a psionics system, just an alternate form of magic. I won't say they are all bad, just not up really up to snuff.

Unearthed Arcana Why UA Psionics are never going to work in 5e.

If 5E psionics ends up being a form of spell casting with just psionic trimming, no, I will not be happy with it and will not likely use it. Watered down sorcery with tattoos and crystals is just not good enough, I will have to homebrew something instead.

    D&D 5E (2014) Here's why we want a Psion class

I cannot see anything wrong with making powers skills and using feats to determine disciplines. The numbers need to be tweaked, I don't think they did enough playtesting before putting out the CPH and TW&TW, but the core ideas were sound. Telepathic combat became a subtle game of strategy when...

    D&D 5E (2014) Here's why we want a Psion class

Meh. We need to ditch spells entirely and have a skill-based psionics system like in the 2E Complete Psionics Handbook. If the psionicist is just another spellcaster, it is not really psionics, is it? It is just magic with crystals and tattoos. No thank you. We need tangents and harbingers, not...

    D&D 5E (2014) Here's why we want a Psion class

The paranoia comes with the territory, psionic characters always face suspicion if not persecution because they cannot be trusted. Even spellcasters are wary of them because you never know when they are using their powers. That paranoia is price of power.

D&D 5E (2014) One of my players married a beholder, help!?

Maybe give the rays some druidical flavour in the choice of powers?

D&D 5E (2014) One of my players married a beholder, help!?

I recall an article in The Dragon about monster cults, it featured a prestige class whose members gained the traits of a Beholder. I don't recall what issue, but if you can find it, it may help develop this character.

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana Revisits Psionics

Hopelessly bland. I still have not seen a better system than the 2E psionics handbook and TW&TW. There are nice bits and pieces like the origins for sorcerers, but again that misses the whole point of having psionics, which is to have a non-magical supernatural power with its own system. Call me...

AD&D 2E [History] Historical Reference Softcovers. Which ones did you use?

Issue #257 of Dragon Magazine had an HR style feature on Dark Age Britain, it was very good. I really like the alternate versions of the demihumans they described. I would love to play a dockalfen or erlking.
