Map List for 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide Revealed

Hey @Yenrak - Can you describe the material they are printed on? I'd love to tote these around in my DMing kit and use them at cons and such. Do you have a comparison for the map stock? Is it durable? Are they dry erasable?

Map List for 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide Revealed

OK, I really want to buy this and I just scored a consultant gig. Plus this is a tax deduction! Let's do some math: GM's Screen: Retails for $20 Canvas Maps: Retail for a Lot. I see these going for $40 each or so. Huh. You get two. Battle Maps: 30 of these. The Giant Book of Battle Maps from...

Greg did a TON of work to get streaming going at Wizards. He doesn't get enough credit for pushing that forward.

Looking at what I put together, then reading the WotC press release that Darjr quoted, a few things: You can be confident that the press release is accurate. They can write stuff to cast things in a good light, but they can't blatantly lie about things. A few folks asked about D&D Beyond, and...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player’s Handbook is ‘Fastest Selling D&D Book Ever’

As someone who loves D&D and is publishing 5e-compatible books next year, this is the best news I could hear.

A week post release, the Barnes & Noble ranking is 157. Amazon is probably a little higher, based on the ratings. Probably outside the top 50 but within the top 100. So what does this all mean? This isn't 2014, when you had a lot of people coming back to D&D and a big surge of interest focused...

FWIW, we had about four weeks to write each of those modules (for comparison, in a normal schedule we'd have three months). Pyramid might have had a two week deadline, but that one was definitely less than a month. The quality wasn't a reflection on 4e as a symptom of a workflow collapse...

It's in there! Each level 3 "You get a subclass" feature ends with: That's quite an elegant solve, IMO. I can use any 2014 subclass by just back collecting any features I may have missed. At a quick glance, it looks like the math works out. The only issue I see is that when making content...

Dude, 2014 released with: The starter set - level 1 - 5 adventure The first part of Tyranny of Dragons - level 1 - 5 adventure, with 6 - 10 released soon after A half dozen or so Adventurers League scenarios In terms of streaming, the staff regularly ran games online. A group played through...

That's a good point. The 4e DMG remains one of my favorites for including a great sandbox setting and a complete adventure. My dream scenario would be getting Hommlet and environs written up as a sample starting town, along with the moathouse as a sample starter dungeon. Say, two short...

Usually, yes. In this case, it looks like the D&D books at Target are sold in by Random House. Wizards stopped working with them at the end of last year. I assume that's inventory left over from before then. A bunch, though not all, of the D&D books are Target.com are categorized under Random House.

In terms of poor decisions, really the OGL and the handling of it along with the other issues that seem to crop up on a quarterly basis. In terms of a product plan, I really wish that there was an adventure designed with it in mind that I could run right now. There's no single, specific play...

Companies like Walmart and Target are trying to compete with Amazon by offering a similar sales platform. A retailer or manufacturer can set up a sales account and perhaps even warehouse goods with those companies.

Target lists Random House as the vendor for their D&D book products. With that relationship ending, it's likely that WotC's access to the book section there is over. The products still listed as coming from WotC are all boxed games that would appear in the toy/games section.

I think that ties back into the marketing issues. The new PHB is very clear on how to use old subclasses with the new stuff, and it's really simple. Why not just make a video showing someone making a character with a 2014 subclass and a 2024 core class? It would be easy and clear to everyone.

You and I both know that, but I think it's more complicated than it looks. For a lot of people, the PHB or the core rulebooks are their only purchases. Having a new adventure for retailers to sell when they come into the store helps get people playing and gives stores another product to sell...

D&D 5E (2014) Amazon US book sales rank.

We won't see a ranking for the 2024 PHB. I need to check with friends I have at Amazon to figure out how that happens, but the book's listing is not configured to show a sales rank. We can infer where it is based on the number of reviews and by looking at Barnes & Noble, which does list a...

Yeah, and I wonder how much of that comes from a lack of seeing the new rules in context. There are literally no preview videos on the official D&D channel of the designers, or anyone else, running a game using the new rules. There was the game at Gen Con, but that felt more focused on the...

I'm glad to hear that. Having used the book for a few weeks, the disparity between the marketing campaign and the book's actual utility is pretty wild.

D&D 5E (2024) Hobby Store Exclusive (Special Cover) PHB Pre-Orders Cancelled

If that's true, then I expect you'll see more books printed. In my experience, there's a certain threshold of errors you expect in any manufacturing process. However, if you go above that percentage there are contractual obligations that can kick in. The manufacturing might need to refund some...
