I don't know any other RPG site with the pop-up ads. They are so annoying and aggressive. But I guess the sentiment is that you pay for no ads which I guess is fair enough.
Is the Lord of the Rings Roleplaying core rules based on the 2014 edition or 2024 edition D&D ruleset? It looks like it was published in 2023 but the copy I was perusing in store the other day was a "second printing" published 2024. Have they updated anything in the second printing?
It's interesting how the 5E version has a different name and different artwork. Most publishers would just keep the same name (The One Ring) and stick a "compatible with 5E" badge at the bottom of the 5E version.
I was just wondering if the 5E adventures have more combat focus than the TOR version. Or if that's not the case and the 5E adventures are simply a pure conversion - and exploration and combat are exactly the same as the TOR version.
How is the new game going? Are there many people playing it?
I must admit I haven't been following it but I might investigate it now. Surely it can't be too bad if it gets the backing of Perkins/Crawford?
That's a fair point. I guess to feel like you're a part of something that is a "contemporary" system that's being supported and updated. And hopefully the new system will be a cleaner more streamlined experience.
That would be a bit of a turn off if it were too "spreadsheety". But I guess it would be hard to write a system on domain management without it involving some kind of bookkeeping.
Thanks for all the info, folks! What about the short rest/long rest paradigm? Does it have a mechanic like that?
And what about healing? Does it implement anything to mitigate magical healing being abused? For example Worlds Without Number has a System Strain mechanic to help with this, I...
[I know this is a banned RPG on a couple of sites. I don’t know the full details of why it’s banned but I’m currently investigating to make an informed decision. For the purposes of this thread, though, I’d just like to learn more about the game system. I will do my own research on the...
What's a good setting to run DCC in?
Would I be correct in saying that it's got a heavy metal sword and sorcery vibe?
Some D&D settings I haven't run yet are Mystara and Dark Sun. Would it work with any of those?
I wonder if it would help if Goodman Games asked Bledsaw Jnr to come out in the public and:
a) disavow the 2020 comments
b) promise all moneys to be refunded from previous failed Kickstarter
I think the city map needs an update. All the shops are clustered together in tight blocks showing a labyrinth of interior rooms. Reminds me of the city maps in the old SSI computer games. I would like to see the city showing the roof tops like in today’s RPG city maps. Then, if they want to...
Yep, I was thinking something similar. You could say the sea of silt is like some psychic memory of Mother Earth (or Athas equivalent) that won't let go. This psychic memory has stirred up all the silt and now it stands in for the oceans of old in a world without water - ghost seas if you like.
I had some Dark Sun questions but also some hypothetical questions applied to our own Earth for science-minded folk:
1) Would the oceans of silt in Dark Sun blow up a lot of dust into the atmosphere? Maybe so much so that the sun would be blocked out?
2) Do the oceans of silt in Dark Sun have...
