Treasure placing is driving me nuts!

A lot of interesting stuff so far. Never considered Weapons of Legacy, though. I do not own that book, but I have Expedition to the Demonweb Pits, which has 2 legacy items in it. I do not like the way they are handled. Some additional infos about the way I prefere to DM might help: I do not...

Treasure placing is driving me nuts!

Oh well, the title might be 'a bit' exaggerated, but in escence it does... I really like DMing, I created tools to help me wing 10th level encounters, have a bunch of houserules to help my players who do not like complicated classes etc. BUT placing treasure in my campaign is so much work. I...

Bringing others into the hobby (based on comments from Shelly Mazzanoble)

I recently bought Savage Worlds Explorer Edition for 8€! (A 160pg full-coler 6x9 inch paperback) and I really think thats a way to get new players into your game. Sadly, with D&D something like that might not really be possible, still I think the entry level must be lowered (And I do not think...

    10th Level Adventures

My campaign is reaching its finale quickly, and that will leave my group with a bunch of 10th level characters who have recently helped throwing back a Drow controlled Giant invasion of the Kingdom of Cormyr. The characters will be used for more adventuring and one of my players would like to...

    All Spontaneus Caster D&D

As I said, I took the base for the system from Unearthed Arcana. (See here ) I did some research to find out if others have experience with that variant rule, and found out it works quite well. Clerics tend to buff themselfs a little less, as they, as you pointed out, need to learn some...

    All Spontaneus Caster D&D

After some more research done, this is what I came up with. Comments: Cleric and Druid are essentially as in Unearthed Arcana. The only changes made are: Clerics do not automatically have access to all domain spells (a source of imbalance when combined with domain granting PrCls), but they...

    Changes to Devils and Demons

Oh well, I must say, I read that and thought: Great! I really like the idea to be able to describe a monster to my (not very D&D Cosmology firm) group and they will be able to guess wether its a Demon or a Devil. (Up until know, that had more to do with a Know Planes Check) So, might be a...

    All Spontaneus Caster D&D

Here is a simple first try for Cleric, Druid, Wizard and Sorcerer based upon the spontaneus divine caster rules in Unearthed Arcana. (I did not know they existed, great, a base to start from) The Basic Tables: Spells per Day Level 0 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th 9th 1st 4 2 — — — —...

    All Spontaneus Caster D&D

@drothgery: The AU/AE method does not work, as one of the real problems is the ever changing spell selection. We played AE for some time, and reached 9th level. The only thing really helping the players was, that they all used the same spell list, thus they were able to help each other.

    All Spontaneus Caster D&D

Hi all, I thought for my next campaign I would like to make all casters spontaneus casters. How would you do that? Which Classes? I do not want to loose any base class, rather make all of them spontaneus casters. Why do that? Looking up spells takes enourmous amounts of time in my group...

To WotC: How to Pick Up Girls

Hehe, allthough you posted it as humor, I think there is some truth in there. I have yet to meet a female gamer concerned about balance (be it encounter or class balance)... being able to play an interesting and well liked character (ie. lots of options to build different characters fitting to...

Best High Level Anti-Night Elf adventure, any edition?

"The Harrowing", a Dungeon Adventure for 3.0 by Monte Cook (Dungeon Mag 84). It is brilliant. Great Fun. It is somewhat like the old Queen Module from the AD&D series. (Go to the Demonweb, slay Drow and Demons) Allthough it is for level 15 characters, it is easy to scale it down, as you would...

How to make D&D games run faster?

I do not think this is a good point at all. Why? Of course I prepare for my games and that helps me run them pretty fast. And my players do so too, sometimes. But there are allways weeks where that just isn't possible. I think it's sad that you actually feel during the session if it had been a...

    Fun to play Characters

Okay, simple question: Which character build did you have the most fun playing or saw someone have a great time playing? Maybe for each of the different "food groups" of characters. Level Range 5-15 Here is my list: (I will use the 4th Ed. Terms to sort the characters, alltough it does not...

DI and freedom from the revision cycle

well, we will get pdf versions with every book we will buy. And we will get an addition to the char gen. And wizards said again and again books will remain important... seems to me, everyone will be quite happy... :-)

DI and freedom from the revision cycle

Nothing wrong with that... as 1Mac said, might be a generations thing or whatever... I do close to all my prep work for my D&D campaigns on the computer.

    30 Levels

ahm, if I understood correctly what was said about 4E, the game will go up to level 30 but it is more like stretching the current level 7-17. I expect to have 1st level characters who are able to maybe even cast a fireball, (maybe thats stretching it, but 2nd level spell will most likely be in)...

DI and freedom from the revision cycle

I just thought about the exact same thing, and I really hope you are right. The DI seems to be a buisness model similar to the MMORPG one, and that should work for a game like D&D to, I think. Wizards can even sell much more stuff besides rules than blizard. While they could offer their rules...
