    I want to tell you something...but I won't.

Agreed. My example was just a case where what the players came up with was better than what I had. :)

    'Lack of Heroism'

I'd recommend sitting them down outside the game and just say that you are not enjoying the game right now and politely explain why. See if you and your players cannot come to so middle ground. It may be that they want a completely different type of game than you are willing to run (you have to...

    I want to tell you something...but I won't.

I've done this. Most recently was a Call of Cthulhu 1920's game centered around the theft of some Egyptian artifacts from a museum in Arkham by a "cult" of Egyptian ghouls. The players somehow managed work out that it was a non-mythos plot and that it was a fraud case by the broke son of the...

Why Games Workshop is not a good business

Games Workshop are not a good business model. They are a business and they need to make a profit to keep in business. No one can argue that. However, yearly price increases when at least here in the UK (not sure about the US) we're in a recession isn't a clever move. They also seriously over...

    Your d20...an inny or outy?

I'm GM 90% of the time and I always roll behind the screen. The only time I don't is for ethereal 50% miss checks and that sort of thing, as I just figure it's fair for the players to see that. As a player I prefer the GM to keep their rolls secret.

    I want to tell you something...but I won't.

If it's that obvious then just tell them.

    I never "got" the Cleric

For me it's the difference between a cleric (as the class) and a lay priest. The cleric is the militant or adventuring priest who is trained to fight and wields magic sent from the divine. The lay priest is the 90% who just serve in temple and probably don't have magic or at least nothing more...

Would you quit a game if....

I'm not an over controlling GM but I do have the opinion that the game is the GMs. He or she is the one that puts the time, blood, sweat, tears and hard earned cash into designing/tweaking the setting, writing the adventures and prepping the game. Players get the enjoyment out of playing. They...

    Player Distractions.

But depending on the group you then get told either you're not roleplaying (they haven't told you IC) or that you are metagaming.

    Player Distractions.

It depends on the group. My group has no problem with this, and I have played with groups who would get irked if I acted upon something my character hasn't been told by them. I wouldn't call it selfish at all.

    Player Distractions.

For me it is not a case of not enjoying it. It's a case of my character isn't involved. The other character is somewhere I am not so I can't weigh in nor do I know what is happening. I don't want to know. I want that character to tell me when we get back together IC. It's also not an attention...

What type of adventuring do you prefer?

I prefer the Adventure Path format as both player and DM.

    Player Distractions.

I do on occasion (when playing) play with phone (checking emails and such), stack/roll dice...etc, but it's not because I'm bored. When my character isn't involved in a scene for whatever reason I have a need to fidget. I can't just sit there. When I'm DMing it doesn't bother me as I know that...

Would you quit a game if....

My suggestion is to talk to the guy. Explain that you think he's a good player but you and the group he is joining are not prepared to change how they play their game to accomodate him. He needs to adapt otherwise it's not going to work. If he choses then not to play then fine.

Pathfinder 1E What are your Pathfinder houserules?

Since XP isn't really nessecary in Pathfinder we don't keep track of it. The party levels when I say they do. Usually every two to three completed scenarios. Under 3.5 we ditched the crit confirmation roll except on opponents that were larger in size category than you. I had wanted to ditch the...

    Pathfinder 1E what is pathfinder?

It is but it is also an expanded upon and argueably better version of the 3.5 rules system.

    Campaign Help

I second using Age of Worms. AoW was probably the best published campaign I've ever run.

As a player, do you have a preferred gender for your GM?

I've only ever had one female DM and that was at a con in the early 90's. But it doesn't matter to me so long as they run a good game.

Are your players usually ok with restrictions?

As a DM I feel that some restrictions are nessecary. The DM has to be happy with the game not just the players. Thankfully my players are happy to play and enjoy a game whether I impose anything or not. Most of the time I block aspects such as race and prestige classes because they don't fit...

    If D&D didn't exist

If D&D didn't exist then I doubt I would be a gamer now as it was hearing about D&D many years before I ever found the game that got me into it.
