    D&D 4E 4E d20 Superheroes - I want that too!

I thought City of Heroes did a fine job of combining 'classes' very similar to 4ed (blaster, tank etc) with 'sources' that defined the type of powers a player had. I don't see why 4e classes combined with Feat chains based on powersources (your blaster takes the 'gadget' source feat at level...

    Excerpt: Multiclassing (merged)

This all points to a system where character customization is gained more through feat and class selection than multiclassing. I think this is good for balance, anyone who posts here is probably capable of making truly monstrous 3.5 characters that made the rest of the party baggage. With this...

    D&D 4E Got to play 4E today

Every playtest I have participated in has pointed out that this is completely correct. 1st level characters are not overpowered if you can still kill them with an encounter that is budgeted for their party size and level. If they roll poorly and use bad tactics some of them might croak. Bump...

    Multiclassing.

The punchline is: I heard about this on the internets, everyone says it is hilarious. Like a lolcat or a racist joke your uncle forwards to you.

    Multiclassing.

darn ninjas! But on topic - I await the cries of 'But how can I make the Pally/Wizard/Monk/Druid I have been planning??? What garbage system denies the glorious Pank Drizard?? Why must you kill my role playing WOTC??'

    Minion Status: Private or Public?

They will usually be a separate class of mini and I will describe them as looking different, worse armor and less menacing stature etc. It's the same thing I would do in an earlier edition when there was a bunch of grunts with some commanders.

Are you bothering to read DUNGEON anymore? (and level index)

I am not reading because I am waiting on 4e. I read the print mag and loved it even when I was not using the material. For the same reason I am not reading pathfinder anymore either. I dearly hope those who complained so histrionically to paizo about wanting to stay with 3.5 for ever and ever...

    D&D 3.x Epic Destinies for 3.5

Ya know I was 1/4 the way in before I realized this was 3.5 material. I was thinking this was an amazing amount of crunch for a preview, and spell resistance is still in? And a 30 d6 damage attack?? Back to remedial reading comprehension for me.

    A Whippershnapper's Review

Just a note, I played 1st, 2nd but very little 3rd and I like what I see and have experienced in 4e so far. Just because yer old doesn't mean ya hate the new, despite the evidence of some bellyachers. That said, I'm glad your test went well. I have also had the experience that newbies take to...

    Excerpts: Angels

Not to distract from the fascinating discussion of angles and their pin-head-dancing but I have to say you reminded me of several months I spent devouring book after book of the Belgariad as a young teen. I was really pulled into the story as it went on.. and on.. and on... And then I realized...

    Disarming a character from powers?

I think it depends on the folks holding the prisoners. Wealthy cultists or the city guard of a moderate sized burg would be well prepared for standard tricks (You fey step and find yourself standing in a dark obsidian box somewhere in the feywild. You hear growling nearby. Want to go back?)...

D&D 4E How would 4E improve my game?

On the minis thing, I think it will be hard for some characters (those who depend on a lot of shifting 1 square etc) to fully shine without a battle grid with tokens at least. But that was true of 3rd so if you are used to it and your players take that into consideration when choosing powers...

AOE Spells - 1 attack roll vs. All Targets?

I think this came up somewhere else but doesn't the prerelease info we have suggest rolling once for damage on multiple targets? If you do that and you roll once for attack then you get REALLY swingy fast, remember that rolling 5 attacks and 5 damages is going to give you a bell curve so on...

    Excerpts: Angels

I think we are also seeing only soldiers/brutes at this time. I would bet within a year we will see other flavors of angels who fill controller/leader roles as the captains and lieutenants of a gods forces who will have more subtlety and complexity. But even then, they are in the MONSTER...

    Excerpts: Angels

Well I suppose that depends, Angels in Judeo-Christianity were not always particularly cuddly. I mean we have been talking abut the angel of death for quite a while. I would think in fantasy land things would be similar, most people never meet an angel that they know of and the stories they...

    Excerpts: Angels

Yes I think the AP mention was to specify that given the Angels single mindedness it will not save any resource for later, all attention goes to killing the offending character NOW.

D&D 4E 4E: What 3.x problem did it fix for you?

It has for the moment resolved the issue that I could never get a game together because noone was comfortable with their knowledge of 3.5 enough to want to play with our limited time.

    Excerpts: Angels

I think I read the 'mercenary' thing different than others here. To me it sounded like they wanted a reason why a particular angel might not necessarily allways be operating as the hand of a particular god. We assume they mostly will be since they have attached themselves to gods who share...

    Excerpts: Angels

I likes it, the entry really got me popping with encounter ideas. you pissed off the Grand Poobah of the local cult? Does he hire some standard assassins? No he starts filling out the paperwork to submit his request for divine redress against those who have crossed him, in triplicate. And once...
