Help me find a Feat or two!

So, here's the situation. I'm building a 7th level fighter (or maybe paladin). Here's the catch, I've decided to use the new Book of Exalted Deeds - specifically the Vow of Poverty. This means I get a basic weapon, and that's it. I did roll very well on my stats (two 18s and nothing lower...

    [OT] Real life cyborg monkey

So, output is done. Now let's work on input. Reading rpgHQ's post further up about various computer uses was facinating. The only problem is that they all still rely on visual input (from the screen). What we need is some bidirectional flow here... How's about a big metal spike that jams...

Are you playing the type of game you want?

While that can be true, there are many ways of circumventing that. IMC, I removed the sorcerer all together - they don't exist in my world. (That wasn't a balance issue totally - they just don't fit into my world which began in 2nd ed.) The real problem here is that a DM might change one...

Are you playing the type of game you want?

Problems with the game system? I disagree. The DM controls the pace and flow of the game. My campaign started as a low-magic world - and I've controlled the pacing of the levels quite well. The DM puts magic in the world, and the DM gives out XP. I fail to see how that's not a "campaign" issue.

    Spineless Puppy DMs Unite!

Actually death comes built-in with reasons to fear it. At lower levels it costs gold (in the form of spell components) along with a level (which really hurts) or a "favor" owed to someone (which should be a difficult task at best). At higher levels it costs significant gold (25,000!). There's...

    Spineless Puppy DMs Unite!

So do you guys avoid injuring the PCs? It seems to me that if injury is fine (since you can heal) then dying should be fine (since you can res). Why is there a seperation between the two? I mean, when it boils down to it, Resurrection is just a really fancy Cure spell... Now, surely it's...

    Spineless Puppy DMs Unite!

The theory that killing PCs caused problems or is negative in some way is illogical - unless you've removed all the "Raise Dead" spells from the game! See, in D&D death isn't always Death. Nor should it be. I've killed several PCs as a DM, and if the player desires to continue playing that...

    Funny spell names

One of my players is working on a spell to shift blame for anything that should occur to him. He calls it Gunther's Irrefutable Alibi. :) Some of the best actual spell names are in a spell compendium put out by I believe Green Ronin. They added the spells from Rites and Rituals by WW, but...

    Core races/classes too limited?

I think that in each version of the game people like to play with all the toys. While that's true, when making characters my group generally decide on a concept for the character before selecting anything else. Then we look for classes and rules that fit that concept, if possible. Last we...

    D&D 3.x [3.5]Golems: Immunity to Magic...

Ahh, well I haven't had a chance to find it yet, but it very well could have been from a Sage ruling that I read that. In fact, I believe that's why I noticed specifically that Maze was usable against a Golem - it was probably also mentioned with the "Immunity = 100% SR" comment. That's the...

    D&D 3.x [3.5]Golems: Immunity to Magic...

Heh, I honestly don't expect you to prove it. Because under 3.0 Spell Immunity works just as I described. You'll just have to wait for me to get home in order to give you page and FAQ references, I suppose. :)

    D&D 3.x [3.5]Golems: Immunity to Magic...

Well, I hate to contradict your well thought out post - despite all the effort you went into citing the rule that shows I was incorrect. But I don't believe that I was wrong. I am at work now, but when I get home I will be glad to look up the rule and share it with you - along with I believe...

    D&D 3.x [3.5]Golems: Immunity to Magic...

It affected golems under 3.0 - the rule was just harder to find. Somewhere buried in the DMG or the MM was the rule that "Spell immunity was the same as having an unbeatable Spell Resistance". By inference, a spell that doesn't allow for a SR check can harm something with an "unbeatable SR".

    D&D 3.x [3.5]Golems: Immunity to Magic...

Any effect that doesn't allow for a SR check will hurt a golem, or any magical immunity. One change from 3.0 to 3.5 that is interesting: Maze now must check for SR - no more simple golem removal!

Who owns Paranoia? Mini-game would be cool...

So how would you suggest doing char gen? I see that most people use a points system, which doesn't exactly work for Paranoia. I've begun setting up at Playbyweb.com, and getting the feel of the place. Anyway, so who's in for this? Anyone interested, please shoot me an email at rushl @...

Who owns Paranoia? Mini-game would be cool...

Oh, no doubt! I did fiddle with that back when it first came out, but decided that I really thought it sucked. It will be Second Edition all the way! And pre-Whoops too. I never really liked that post-Whoops crap. :) I'm investigating Emiricol's suggestions for facilitating the game now...

Who owns Paranoia? Mini-game would be cool...

I've always thought that Paranoia would be an excelent game to play by post, or by email. I've never really taken part in a PBM game, though I've kept up with a few. It seems to me though, that if there were a single game written perfectly for that method of play it would be Paranoia...

Who owns Paranoia? Mini-game would be cool...

Hmm, I think West End Games sold the property, but to whom I don't know. Perhaps you could begin your search there. Second, I don't think Paranoia would improve with a d20 conversion. I love running and playing Paranoia, and do so often. What makes it beautiful IS the system. There's no...

Q: Improving Monster HD and Caster Level

Alright, so I'm improving a monster for my party to face, and I'm increasing it's HD. I don't want to give away too much info here (since they are probably spying!) but here's the question: If the creature has a Supernatural ability that functions as a spell, and the creature (currently HD 11)...

    The moment of fragmentation

What if your group decides they don't want to play D&D at all? What if they decide to switch to GURPS Fantasy with aspects of Time Travel and Steam Punk thrown in? What if they want to play Cyberpunk? Or Star Wars? Or any of a near-infinite number of RPGS that aren't 3.0 D&D? What do you do...
