I'm the designated medic in our party, and I'm a sorcerer. I just got proficiency in herbalism kits and took the Healer feat. My potions and healer's kits have been good enough so far!

For me, a big part of the artificer class was their ability to access any class's spell list when making magic items. If they work out some way to keep that from being overpowered, that's a big step forward to me.

Sorcerers have the Metamagic feature. This gives them a set of tools for modifying the properties of their spells. Artificers, then, should have a set of tools for modifying the properties of their party's equipment.
