    What are the biggest threats?

Couldn't agree more with that statement, when I first got the 3e DMG they seemed pretty cool, but it was all down hill from there. In my games I disallow most PRCs. I think 4e should use prestigious talent trees, and there shouldn't be an over proliferation of them (or of ones that are too...

    D&D 4E Who's going to dump WoW for 4E?

Isn't life about making choices between completely different activites? To the OP: The guys in my group who play WoW manage to play in our D&D game also, so I don't expect anything to change because 4e comes out.

    When is D&D not D&D?

Did you purposely leave charisma out of your list? The last two are really the only ones I agree with from your list.

    When is D&D not D&D?

The true essence of D&D I think is near impossible to know, so we'll just have to rely on our collective gut feeling about it.

    How many are playing SAGA?

RFisher, by your description Saga sounds like a substantial decrease in complexity from AD&D which had inherently complex mechanics or from 3e which has way too many situational stackable modifiers.

    Making the Skill System Work

Bad idea. For the reason's listed by Gizmo. And thats where the wonkiness just begins. A character with a 0 modifier in a skill will be up against a DC 0 skill check for anything. A character with +20 in a skill would have a harder time than a character with +10 in a skill at an Formidable...

    How many are playing SAGA?

I've done one 2 session one shot and one 3 session one shot, 1 session = approx 5 hours. Things I don't like about saga: 1) Skills can become too good too soon, this is especially true for Jedi. In 4e they've already said they aren't using saga's skill system, at least not exactly. 2)...

    Roles, Power Sources; unbalanced?

Class system by definition equals restriction. If multiclassing is as good as they claim its going to be this should mitigate this fact a great deal. I think 4e will have less class role restriction via talent trees then any other game with the D&D label prior to it (assuming they do talents...

D&D 4E Your habits, considering 4e is coming

Only change will be that instead of thinking about buying a book (for 3.X) and then never buying it, I just won't even think about buying it to begin with.

D&D 4E Poll: Turning Undead in 4E...how should it work?

I voted cleric level versus HD, but I think cleric level versus CR would work better and it would need to be less clunky than how it has been emplemented in 3e. I also do not think clerics should have to have a turn/rebuke undead ability, it should just be an option.

Is the Warlock going to kill the sorcerer and take his stuff?

Ironically sorcerer was overwhelmingly favored on wizard in my group, but thats mostly because we're lazy slackers.

D&D 4E Really?? Is RPGA really the best place to test 4e

I have no experience with the RPGA. But to me it makes perfect sense to use members of an already existing organization to test a rule set. Stands to reason it'd make it a lot easier to test and get feed back.

    Origin of half-elves?

Ditto what Ruin Explorer said. If you change half elves from being half elf/human then why call them half elves? I'm sure a reason can be made but it'd be better to simply come up with a new name for the new race.

    How to describe a race?

To borrow from shadowrun we could use metahuman ;) Seriously though if you want to not be confusing species is right, if you want to be more flavorful and/or traidtional race is right. If necessary incorporate a little side bar explaining what race means in the d&d/rpg context.

What is your top question/concern about 4th edition?

From every thing we've read they aren't going to be using spell points or mana points or something similar. They won't be using a system where magic causes 'drain', that is damage from fatigue like in Shadowrun. Everything they've told us leads me to believe they'll just be increasing the...

    New Design: Wizards...

It is silly to create new +X items, when one of your design goals is to make magic items less important in 4e.

    New Design: Wizards...

I like the sound of these different items for casting, have to wait and see if I like it. But I don't want to see the big six magic items expanded into the big 11, as others have said. +X items are boring and become must have items, don't get rid all of the old +X items and just replace them...

Which spells do you usually imagine linked to an orb, staff or wand? (Tome optional)

I predict Quick Draw (or its equivalent) becoming the #1 wizard feat choice.

Does a Charmed Monster / Person gain experience?

No reason in my opinion the NPC shouldn't get a full XP share. If you charm a guy and manage to get him to adventure with you and he contributes as much as any of the PCs you didn't loose much in the way of resources (in fact your investment is paying off several times the value of a typical...
