    Level 5 Warlord Dailies

I'd taken villain's nightmare if my party were lacking in defenders. Useful for keeping the BBEG from hitting softer targets.

Do You Need All 4 Roles in a Party?

or warlord Same benefit if I recall, just different skill option and different further multiclass feat options.

Why are Magic Items listed in the PHB?

I don't know how you could play 3e past level 10 or so with out permanent magic items, unless your characters buffed like hell. Didn't many players own all 3 books anyay? But thats neither here nor there. Few easy rules oughta fix your problem: 1) PCs can't make magic items. 2) Assuming you...

    Multiclassing Problems

I think the ranger one will be fixed with errata to match the warlock one. Problem with the warlock paragon paths is they all loose out on something without the warlock's curse class feature (the infernal one looses out on the most, the other two are proably passable). Every other class has...

    Monster Templates as Paragon Paths?

Neat idea. First thought: Perhaps toss darkvision in there somewhere? Also does the lich have to pay the market price for his phyalctrepy or does he get it for free? I'd be inclined to make him pay since he gets free ressurections.

The Staff and the Tank Mage.

While definitely true at lower levels, at higher levels it might be worth moving up to heavy armors if you can get masterwork armor.

    Amazon Delay until JULY 22nd

I ordered the book gift set after a friend. I got 3-5 day shipping and it got to my house on the 9th. My friend got super save shipping and has to wait till July too.

    The thing about monstrous races...

I was really surprised when I saw the Hobgoblin racial modifiers for 2 reasons: 1) Why would hobgoblins get a bonus to charisma, doesn't fit fluff, the MM entries or previous editions. 2) We already have enough races that get a bonus to charisma. Should be +2 con and +2 dex.

    Make me a warlord

Keep in mind if you're you've got a high enough intelligence (+18) its better just to go with hide armor over chain or even scale (if you take the feat) in most situations. That is until you can start wearing masterwork armors (mid teens), that will usually swing it back in favor of heavy...

I just wish there was a way to swap in an encounter power.

    D&D 4E UPDATED 6/20/08! kiznit's 4e Fold-over Character Sheet w/ Cards

I'd say give more room for powers and feats, so make it a 3 page character sheet. I've been in favor of 3-4 page character sheets for d&d and most rules heavier RPGs for years, but usually no one makes them. They're not as compact and make things appear more complicated than a 2 page sheet but...

    How do you interpret rules?

2 or 3, depending, leaning more to 3. Ruling option 2 you sorta move into house rules territory more than rules interpretation, which until you're very familiar with a system should be avoided.

Kobold chance to hit (javelin +5 vs AC)

Exactly. If you want to make a monster with an AC of X it doesn't matter how it got exactly to that point. Worrying about that could be very frustrating in 3e.

The reason the books feel incomplete

According to the DMG (if I remember correctly) you can impose -1 attacks/damage/defenses/AC to adjust a monster's level down by 1 or the reverse to increase it by one. But doing so more than 5 times can cause the system to break down. If this is true then it is very easy to level up/down...

    Sling vs. Hand Crossbow?

Perhaps not. However, Xenophon states in his book, the Anabasis, that the greek slingers from Rhodes using lead bullets could out distance the Persian slingers using fist sized stones. These slingers in turn out ranged the Persian archers, who themselves out ranged the Greek archers from Crete...

    Sling vs. Hand Crossbow?

Slings should also have as long or longer range than most bows. But D&D has never done this. Should proably have increased range and be a military ranged weapon.

    The Cleave Zombie

Totally adhearing to RAW always leads to silliness. It is unfortunate 4e couldn't eliminate this fact but not at all surprising.

Defenders handing out free attacks (to opponents)

-2 attacks doesn't seem any worse to keep track of in a miniatures free game. Where as giving a free attack would be 1 more dice roll and be a lot worse for the defender. On a map with out a grid map the hard stuff will be sliding. Not what would essentially be a minor debuff in 3e.

    D&D 4E No Roleplaying XP in 4e

Exactly my problem with it. That and is difficult to objectively determine who roleplayed well. On the otherhand when I have given out XP for good RP I also I gave XP for other things listed in the article. Bringing snacks, being a good player (paying attention knowing all rules pertinent to...
