    1.5 instead of 1-2-1?

For my brain at least adding 1/2 numbers is easier than switching what number I add everytime. Of course 1-2-1-2 is easier for some people. Fortunately 1.5 round down works out mathematically the same. And for those bad at math 1-2-1-2 and 1.5 are proably equally horrible.

    D&D 4E 4E Liker - anything you worry about?

While I have other fears that if they turn out to be true will be worst than this, I think this annoys me the most. It seems to run completely counter to what they say 4e's design philosophy is, yet it appears to exist through out the system.

    Any chance?

Try another RPG, shadowrun springs to mind, but might be a bit rules heavy if you won't be playing it for long. Or perhaps have it be a game night where you play games like Axis and Allies or Munchkin, just don't do video games again, do something where you all have to be physically present and...

    Berserkers

More likey the crit damage is derived as follows: 12 (max damage on d12) plus 4 strength/level plus 1d12 because its great axe and they are extra dangerous on crits. But thats just my guess.

    D&D 4E Is Intelligence 4e's dump stat?

Really? Stregnth should be as useful to a wizard as intelligence? All abilties should be useful to all character but some should be more important than others, you can really divide ability scores into 3 tiers of usefulness for all classes. For instance 3e wizard has very clear stat priorities...

    D&D 4E Is Intelligence 4e's dump stat?

I've contemplated this before too. And at least in 3.X there's an easy solution. Bonus skill points from Intelligence can only be spent on skills linked to it (search, disable device, knowledge, craft, speak language etc). I doubt they're doing something similar in 4e. I really hope there are...

    Rules for ordinary becoming extraordinary

Also in real life there are extreme, life threatening circumstances where people freeze in terror, piss their pants, run in fear (though much faster than they otherwise would) etcetera. These I would argue, are much more common than what you've listed. D&D doesn't model these well either except...

D&D 4E So, which class will end up being the -Zilla of 4e?

From what I understand the original DnD bard was actually quite powerful. So it wouldn't be too odd.

Which class will be the faveorite wrt multiclassing dips?

This is pretty much exactly how I think it will work. Of course there are some kinks to work out thinking about it right now (hit points for one, perhaps HP advance at the same rate for all classes?), lets hope they can do it.

    Class Granularity

Shadowrun has no classes, it has suggested archtypes but its definitely classless. @KarinsDad- I agree there is definitely an economic reason in having lots of classes and such, allows for you to sell more books. But for me, I'm thinking I might just settle for the 4e core unless they come up...

Do you like "off screen" events to be rules-plausible?

Things that happen off screen should most of the time be rules plausible. High level NPC fell off of horse and died? Maybe he was low on hit points and hadn't had time to recover dropped to negative hit points after falling and bled out (or horse trampled him). On the other hand it isn't so...

    Static vs. Tailored Encounters

Similar to how I run things. I think either extreme is foolish. Static encounters only results in a very difficult game to play in (and run) with the normal span of 1-20 levels. Though its more doable in E6. Tailored encounters only existing in the game world wrecks my fun also as well as my...

How much money have you spent on 3.x?

    3 3.0 Corebooks= 60 3 3.0 Class Splat Books= 60 Epic Level Handbook= 40 Planar Handbook= 30 (I think) Oriental Adventures= 40 1/2 PHBII, 1/2 Mongoose Pocket 3.5 Players handbook: 35 So $265, similar investments from a few other members of our group, significantly less from some also.

    Class Granularity

I prefer low granularity. In an ideal system feat/talent/whatever choices would differentiate all characters into their specializations. And there would be either no classes or about 3-4 classes (like True20 or Fighter/Wizard/Cleric/Rogue). I don't mind new base classes as much as prestige...

    Women and Children first?

If you have two tribes of hunter/gatherers. And you send the women in as your primary combatants right aside the men and you loose half your women you'll have a much harder time recouping your population after the fight than the tribe who sent the men in as the primary fighters and kept the...

ideas for a good 4th level spell pick for budding 7th lvl necromancer

I too would recommend Fear or Enervation, but the OP mentioned undead heavy game, and as undead are immune to fear and energy drain this would weaken the choice of the spell. So learn Evard's Black Tentacles.

    d12, the LEAST used die

They better keep the d12, that'd probably be a deal break for me (as would removing the d4, d6, d8 or d20). On the other hand I agree with Asmor and Shiverstone that the d10 should be removed.

    D&D 4E I'm Not Sure I Can Afford 4e

Seems to me that if you buy lots of splat books or many different RPGs you're less likely to get your money's worth than if you simply buy the core books and a couple books or just the core books for a few RPGs. This is simple because if you buy PHB DMG and MM plus 20 or more other books it...

Average 1-2 (closer the lower end) Longest was about 4. In the poll I answered what was my longest.

Realism, Heroism, and Abstract Hit Points

Exactly. A gladius was about 2-3 inches wide if I recall, much thicker than a half inch blade, which as stated before increases the chance of hitting something vital. The short length of the gladius allows it to be used in a more compact formation of men or any time there isn't much room to swing.
