    Quantity in Combat

If the opponents are so weak as to only hit a PC on a natural 20 just assume for every 20 attacks 1 succesful hit against a PC. This saves a lot of needless rolling.

    DM's favorite- how to avoid?

Tell the GM in a respectful manner. The GM might not realize his/her unfair bias. If the GM is reasonable he/she will try to curtail the behavior. If the GM isn't reasonable and you don't mind a little immorality you can try to manipulate the out of game relationship between the GM and...

    D&D 4E 4E Haters Lonely?

This is a sorta jackass thread to make, cause it ain't going to cause anything but trouble. I have trouble seeing how this is a humor thread. I like the looks of 4e. But if people who play D&D don't like the looks of 4e they should voice their opinion as long as they're civil about it.

Best Character For A New Player?

Ranger, take the archery path and give him a two handed weapon, power attack, cleave and a lot of useful skills, Favored Enemry (human). He'll be pretty good at all non-magical activities both in and out of combat and can get a feel for the game.

    Possible houserules

Not sure about some of your ideas, have to look them over/think about them longer. But heres another idea: 13) Cap the level at 12, allow continued advancement through feats like in E6. Perhaps every 12k XP +1 feat. If you are having trouble with mid level complexity then you never want to...

    D&D 4E 4E PHP cover art changed

That picture is awesome. I totally agree.

    2 feats, 200gp, to good?

If everyone takes you up on the offer your PCs will be balanced. But those who decide to take the 200GP instead of 2 feats will be at a huge disadvantage because 200GP by no stretch of the imagination is worth 2 feats.

    Podcast up

Wild speculation on the gauntlets of ogre power: Perhaps they now confer bonuses similar to the 'powerful build' ability in 3.5.

What will be the cross-training differences?

Presumably they'd have different bonuses at level 1 to BAB, saves etc. Even if they scale at the same rate they could be different base bonuses.

Turning the aristocrat into a true PC base class

Frankly, every noble class here looks weaker than the bard class, and thats saying something. Here's what I'd do, take bard: Drop Spellcasting Change bardic knowledge to Education Drop coutersong, change bardic music's name, Inspire Drop whip weapon proficiency Have a requisite charisma score...

    War Pick; ?d8

ZombieRoboNinja may be on to something. Currently: AC= Level Bonus+Class Bonus+Armor and Shiled +Dex (I'm assuming) Attack= Level Bonus+Class Bonus+Str/Dex (one more assuming) Thats one more bonus to AC than attack, meaning it could quickly out strip it. 3e 'solved' this by having...

Wizards still cast Enchantment, Illusions, Necromancy

When I think of 3e wizard necromancy these spells come to mind first: Ray of Enfeeblement Vampiric Touch Enervation Fear

The Myth of the Bo9S's Popularity

After a certain point, because of the scale at which powers increase, it is inevitible that D&D characters exceed what is humanly possible, first to the point of just beyond it, eventually getting to a point so far beyond the max of human ability it is totally unbelievable and only comparable to...

The place of Science in Fantasy settings

If magic existed and followed a set of laws and rules then it could be part of science. Wizard-Scientist would study magic in experiments just like any other part of nature. In fact the other parts of science couldn't be understood wholey with out studying magic.

How much of your typical play time is combat?

I'd tenativley answer 40-50 percent, though it can vary greatly session to session.

Need a 'none of the above' option.

    D&D 4E "Adult" Content in 4e Art

I like such art but don't think it should be in D&D core rules books as their objective should be to reach as wide an audience as possible. On the other hand putting it in might help it to reach a wider audience. Guess I'll answer option 1.

Undead, as monsters or as templates?

What about for nonhumanoid skeletons and zombies? The differences are tiny between human and elf but between human and lion, wolf, eagle or T Rex not so much.

Wil fighters have a Berserker talent tree?

With everything else getting its own class eventually it seems I think that Berserker should be its own class. Drop the name barbarian all together.

    Humans as a generic race

I'd only give humans +2 to any one ability of their choice. I'd then give them extra skills and feat. They don't get as much of an ability boost but they can choose where it goes, so it balances out. Hard not to like extra skills and a feat too.
