D&D 4E 4e Wizards - No More Necromancers, Enchanters, Summoners???

Genearlly speaking damage dealing spells are less effective than other spells in 3.X, because dealing Xd6 damage really isn't that much when your typical monster will have 2xd8+2xcon. Meaning fireball is only particuarly useful against mopping up large groups of lackeys, who generally weren't...

    Warlock to cover rogue role?

Get the invocation that lets you animate dead and voila, insta-trap fodder, just have your skeleton and zombie minions walk ahead of the party clearing most traps for you. Not sure what level you have to be to get that one though (no book on me).

    What are we?

If I didn't play D&D (or d20 or at least any RPGs) I wouldn't come to enworld. That said I don't care if people who only play WoW or Axis Allies (just to name two games) came to enworld, but it would seem rather pointless for them to.

4th ed, the Good & the Bad?

May be specific individual types of constructs/undead will be immune to crits but I think the majority of undead/constructs should be vulnerable to them.

giving the fighter some options - my house rule

Why would any one take trapsense +1 in place of a feat?

Dwarven Defender who polymorphed into a Hill Giant?

I proably wouldn't impose any mechanical penalties. But I think he would loose respect amongst other dwarves. Dwarves are a prideful race, bound with a strong sense of tradition and duty. To them arguing the ends justify the means would not cut it. Polymorphing into a hated foe to win a...

is Dungeons and Dragons still Lame

Could this be because these groups have nothing in common other than all having an odd hobby. Other than that what do these different geeks have in common? In response to the OP: All hobbies are equally lame for the most part, they all seek merely to provide pleasure and fill time. Also could...

    Confusion

Completely behind you on this, circumstantial +1 bonuses are stupid and a pain to remember.

    Mulling simplified E6 class

Interesting idea, I'd be curious on more details as to how you'd implement spell casting.

The minuses of pluses, the pluses of minuses.

Exactly what I thought. If a race should be less than everyone else at a given task then the only way to do that is a penalty or a bonus to everyone else. Halflings should be weaker. On the otherhand perhaps the small size penalties represent this well enough. A large penalty (like 3e) to...

    The Gnome Poll

Ditto. But, since that option wasn't available I have made my position to bemore extreme, now I never want gnomes.

    Triple HP at 1st level?

The Uruk Hai killed Boromir. The storm troopers never killed a main character in Star Wars, ever. Closest they come are wounding them are capturing them.

Your preference for how "fragile" 1st-level character should be

When I DM now I never start the PCs below 2nd level, too weak. So I wouldn't mind higher starting HP. On the other hand I wouldn't mind if 1st level character were more fragile in 4th edition as I would simply continue to start games at levels 2 or 3.

    Dragonborn: Boobs or No Boobs?

I say we give male dragonborn colorful extending skin flaps under the neck and jaw, like what anoles have. Not sure what those things are called but they look cool and I always wanted to have one. Not sure about boobs for females, but proably no, instead they can lay eggs.

    Opponent threat assessment

I'd simply say something like this: "Out of the shadows step forth a dozen crossbowmen, on all sides of your characters, 'surrender or die,' states the one of their number, they are wearing the garb of town watchmen but their weapons look finely crafted and each has the look of cold blooded and...

    Trying to play a warlock...

Actually armor and weapons weigh half for small characters. Most equipment weighs 1/4 (clothing, waterskin, backpack, rations etc). So unless overburdened with loot the halfling warlock will be carrying more gear than the human warlock. +2 AC helps against the attack to avoid being grapple for...

    For the first time... apprehension

    1) Tolkien I don't think was the primary inspiration for D&D, and LotR is a bad example of how to run a D&D game (as most books are). 2) Tolkien is okay but I like many other fantasy novelist better. 3) You complain about them forcing a mythology on you when; A) D&D has always done that...

D&D 4E What Campaign Settings would you like to see for 4e?

I'm surprised Eberron and FR aren't doing better in the poll. Maybe its just because people take it for granted that WotC will continue to publish them in 4e.

How to make 'being surrounded by enemy crossbowmen' deadlier?

Run an E6 game. D&D at high levels isn't meant to model regular joes being able to hurt high level PCs. If you want town gaurds to be able to even scratch PCs cap the max level in your world.

    Richard's SAGAized D&D

Cool idea, one comment: A problem with SW saga that not a lot of people mention is that only a couple of the nobles talents are actually related in anyway to charisma. You can play a very inspirational noble with a 6 charisma, this just shouldn't be. If you were to Sagaize D&D something should...
