half as many skills - half as many skill points?

I'd recommend if you specifically lower the amount of skill points some classes get (and not lowering others) to give them something to make up for it. Force instance if you lower ranger and rogue skill points by 2 bump their hit dice up one size (to a d10 and a d8 respectively). I've thought...

Meta-Game Rewards for In Character Play

Seems it would cause more out of game problems denying cookies to some players and then giving them to others based on when the DM thinks they roleplayed well. Roleplaying is an game thing=in game reward (if any). Of course good roleplaying produces intangible rewards, just as smartly...

Known AoO Triggers in 4th Edition

One solution could be only spells of the X highest spell levels a character can cast provoke attacks of oppurtunity. On the other hand 'defensive spellcasting' could be made into talent(s) or feat(s). Or alternatively casting in a threatened area provoks an AoO no matter what.

    no more regional feats?

Never like regional feats either. Better to just say characters from this region of the world are more likely to use weapons X, Y and Z and be skilled at doing A, B and C. And then have the player making their character incorporate those decisions if they desire too.

    Wizards, Naruto, and Game Balance

I can't recall Conan ever loosing a fight to a wizard, well not when he wasn't caught by surprise anyway. Granted wizards in the Hyborian Age aren't Elminster but some of them know some pretty fancy spells and tricks, more on par with what most casters seem to do in the LotR trillogy but with...

    Warlocks = evil?

I really like the idea of a warlock making a pact with a dragon for power.

Tiamat and Bahamut--Why Use Real World Mythology?

I think it'd be safe to say that they are equally unknown to the 'general audience'. I have met people who've never heard of D&D much less one of its deities.

    The Mortal God

Balder only comes back after nearly every other god is dead, the world tree, all nine worlds, all men, giants etc. So yes, Blader comes back but Odin, Thor, Freyr, Tyr etc do not. That said I think only other gods or beings of equal power (world serpeants, really bad ass wolves, a giant hell...

Are they still going to retain the divine/arcane distinction? Why?

Gods grant spells so they can influence the lives of mortals on the material plane. D&D gods, its important to remember are neither all powerful nor all knowing.

Unintended(?) Consequence of No More X-Mas Tree?

Very good observation. Now if the DM wants creature X to be very hard to kill or what have you, instead of not giving magic item Y to accomplish this, he merely increases the power of the monster.

    Barbarians as a Race

Exactly. And as a side note 3e barbarian should be named berserker...but in 4e? who knows...

    Torm vs. Tyr

Tyr has one hand. Damn wolf.

    D&D 4E New 4E term "combat advantage"

I wonder if there'll be different degrees of combat advantage. For instance (assuming Majoru Oakheart guessed what confers it correctly) if you strike a prone opponent during a surprise round while flanking him do you gain only +2 or +6? I think it might be a good idea to let multiple 'combat...

Will there ever be another Marvel or DC superhero RPG?

Many years ago TSR published a Marvel roleplaying game, the rules were very simple but we had fun with it, don't know where you could find it and if you did not sure if it'd be worth purchasing.

    My Excellent 1st lvl Necromancer

'Dextrous magic' is just plain cheesey, so are bone armor and skeletal form. I might be incorrect about the spells, but that feat is just simply wrong. But the skeletal minion ability is pretty cool and I like the 1st level spell that lets you create a skeleton.

    Races & Classes spotted?

I hate to say it but I'm disappointed by the mystery race, I was hopping for one of the many already existing D&D races or not some dragon thing, but it ain't a deal breaker.

Why don't giants rule the world?

In fighting amongst each other? Lack of desire? Costs/benefits analysis shows sharp decline in expected treasure horde growth over the next century (if they establish a kingdom)? Some sort of cosmic law? That said it isn't uncommon in D&D for there to be a kingdom ruled by a dragon. I know...

I think minotaur's are the mystery race

Warcraft is cartoony therefore tauren are cartoony. That said I haven't been terribly impressed by most D&D illustrations with minotaurs.

D&D 4E Realistic Strength and Carrying Capacity for 4E

Small characters already get 3/4 carrying capacity and -4 to various size related combat manuvres (grapple, trip, brullrush, overun, disarm etc) on top of lower stregnth scores. Even a halfling commoner with a 16 strength will have -1 to grapples compared to a 10 strength human commoner's +0.

How do these ideas fix Power Attack?

In my group it was 'power attacking for everything'. Which was done on average once a battle for some players, others would routinely power attack for 1-5 points and others very rarely or not at all. I'm afraid the last group was the most common.
