Longer dying: more negative HP before death

We do; constitution score plus hit dice = number of negative hit points you die at.

Which is the most macho humanoid race?

Dwarf is definitley the most macho. Hobgoblins and orcs are a close second but they usually don't have as big of beards nor do they have the same over all level of toughness. Dwarves are also more stubborn and unyielding.

How much risk do parties enjoy?

1 in 4 sessions a PC will die. Raise dead and similar spells are usually very limited in the games we do to, though we do have the number of negative HP you can drop to increased (though at the risk of permanent injury) and we allow 1 hand of god per PC (get out of certain death). Usually PCs...

    Shields

One could make the argument it doesn't have so much to do with game balance as flavor.

How many pages does it take to keep track of your PC's abilities?

1 page if I'm a non-caster guy (non combat gear on back). 2-4 (summoners need extra pages) pages if I'm a caster. Possibly +1 page if I'm high-epic level. And thats if I'm using note book paper, I don't use actual character sheets.

    Acid "fire" shield

I don't think sonic and force have ever been paired in any material I've seen. Neither represent any of the four elements, which all can be easily paired off. I've probably just have a sonic shield counter sonic and a force shield counter force unless someone had a better idea.

How often do NPCs/monsters flee in your group?

Grunts, unless they are fanatics, will usually try to escape when the PCs clearly are about to abolish them. Now depending on how fearful and well trained and organized they are this might be an orderly withdrawl or a panicked run. And of course BBEG retreat in my games when things look bad...

A thing about d20 D&D I didn't like, and still don't know why it was done...

It makes balancing classes (not that real balance is ever possible) that much more difficult with out unified XP charts. It makes more sense to simply make a class weaker than make it take longer to reach the next level.

    blowgun sneak attack

Not to nitpick but it would actually average 36 not 31.

    PHB II: Duskblade too powerful?

Its more powerful, but not waaaay more powerful just from the numbers I think. I've never seen one in play so I won't vote.

    Is Spring Attack worth it?

Spring attack is good against either: A) High AC oppoents who only your firsrt attack will hit anyway. B) Opponents with many attacks (such as an opponent using two weapons). C) Opponents with reach, you can close with out provoking an attack of oppurtunity. D) You have a very high movement and...

    Firearms

Plate armor was effective against early firearms, it wasn't until heavier muskets began to develop in the 16th century that firearms started to gain prominence in warfare. Eventually heavy cavalry went from full plate to just a very thick breastplate to protect their most vital areas. Here's...

D&D 3.x Is there ANY way to make whips good using WotC-only 3.5 material?

Best use I could see for a whip is using it to trip/disarm foes and then quick drawing a lethal weapon to finish them off, probably a big 2 handed weapon. Might as well use a spiked chain or guisarme though if thats going to be your strategy. The whip is just a crappy exotic weapon I guess.

    Themed Characters

Ever watch Jurassic Park? If you have munchkins in your group then they'll find a way to be munchkins regardless of the source limitations. I'd have to agree with what Smootrk said. I'd recommend instead limiting PRCs to 1 per PC and approving feats/spells individually (or just wait and see...

What are the strictest interpretations of a paladin's code?

If bows and spiked armor are out perhaps you shouldn't flank people or use lethal weapons either, magical gear is out too. In fact using just your fist might be even going a bit to far. Perhaps you should run around blind folded with your hands tied behind your back beating orcs to death with...

Who's the greatest specialist of them all?

Favorite specialist and school is conjurer and since 3rd the most powerful too IMO. Summoning stuff is powerful and fun and it has all of the cloud spells, web and teleports. Prohibited Schools: Necromancy and Evocation. You loose the least by selecting those too. Evocation is mostly just...

Can your players know too much?

Quite frankly I'm sick of players not knowing enough of the rules ("for the last %*&#ing time charge is an attack bonus not a damage bonus"). The DM can always alter his traps/creatures so that the players will be surprised (not every ogre wears hide armor and has an 8 dexterity for...

    Archetypes, are they useful anymore?

I assume you mean by archtype=class. I think it is impossible to loose archtypes. Even if you have a classless system (such as GURPS, Shadowrun) you still will have archtypes. On the equal mix of fighter/rogue/mage, it doesn't necessarily result in a duller character, just a weaker one...
