    D&D 4E 4e - Too much change?

A couple of things to keep in mind... One, we certainly don't have the whole picture yet and two, the Races & Classes book was written some months ago and there will certainly have been some changes since then. If you've followed some of the WotC blogs, they've touched upon this some already...

    Quick Question: Who's in charge?

Bill Slavicsek sits higher up in the food chain (R&D Director), but he lords over more than just D&D (Star Wars, Publishing, etc.). I don't get the impression that he's actually involved in any of the real work (Des or Dev) behind the new edition.

    Quick Question: Who's in charge?

Andy Collins is the manager for Design & Development. Mike Mearls is the lead developer.

    D&D 4E 4e - Too much change?

For the most part I love the direction they're going in. A lot of the new design elements & philosophy have been things I've been clamoring for, for years now. Okay, some of the fluff I'm not so keen on, but that's the easist stuff to clean. ;) In the long run most people are going to come...

    More about wizards by kunadam

Though we essentially knew this already, I think this a very good way to go. I wonder now how they'll handle the spells a character knows. Will they all be available to a wizard or will they limit the number you can have access to at any one time (a la Bo9S)... I'm really on the fence with the...

    Paths and Destinies

... Are you actually expecting an answer here? Your guess is as good as anyone else's.

    Product Blurbs Up on Amazon

IIRC someone at WotC said that's an error when the first rumors went around that the magic items were in the PHB. They're apparently still in the DMG. But Paragon Paths? Epic Destinies? Looking forward to seeing what that's all about...

One Progression to Rule Them All....

Further, since WotC has said they want to smooth out the power curve some, I wouldn't be at all surprised at an attack bonus progression of 1/2 level for all classes (+ 1st level class bonus + stat + misc.).

One Progression to Rule Them All....

Actually that would be a 9 point difference, but factoring in expected stat disparities that will easily head into 13-14+ point differences and that is too much. Plus, suddenly doubling your bonus at Paragon (11th) and Epic (21st) levels is too large a single level jump as well. However, I...

    Races & Classes spotted?

Another interesting tidbit (if true) is that there is just one base progression for all classes which is something in the back of my mind I thought they might do since they were going a full 30 levels in the core book. Class abilities/feats providing the differences between them. They really...

    Magic Item Hate

I agree - good poll. My picks were Common, Glut, Need & Entitlement.

    An end to scry-buff-teleport?

How so? However you glean the information on a threat (through divination or spies), adventurers are almost always reacting to a threat. I'm not sure how it would keep from being more proactive other than limiting the ease with which you can engage threats - and that's a very, very good thing...

    An end to scry-buff-teleport?

My biggest problem with S-B-T is the impact it can have on a setting. To be able to pop in over an area, wreak all kinds of havoc, then pop out again mere seconds later... The king might be safe in his spell-proof throne room, but the rest of his kingdom is not. Not his crops, not his towns and...

D&D 4E Which Classic Module(s) Would You Like to See in 4E?

What - no luv for the Bloodstone series?!? The Throne of Bloodstone was one of my all-time favorite 1e meatgrinders!

    How soon will you switch?

Agreed. And infact a slower migration will probably help WotC in the long run, keeping the sales of the core books high well after the initial launch...

So what's gold gonna be for?

Yeah, I don't belive Birthright is by any means a measure of the popularity in fief-building. You have to like the setting first, and it has to be more appealing than the one you're already running (and likely heavily invested). In my games fief-building was common but our group had been...

Attention WotC: Drop the must-sign-in thing until it works, please.

Add me to the list of those who had major problems with it. I migrated over to Gleemax and while I could log on to read the articles, I just got database error pages when I tried to go over to the forums. Cleared the cache/cookies, made sure I was logged on at the Gleemax site - nada. If I was...
